Ivan Wu

I am running for Vice President/Secretary because I want to contribute my experience, commitment, and perspective to the continued development of the UCL Fencing Club.

I have fenced for around thirteen years and trained professionally for nearly a decade as a member of the Guangdong Provincial Team. I am a certified referee in China and hold National Level 2 athlete status. Since starting at UCL this year, I have competed as part of the UCL Men’s 2 team and attended multiple fixtures, giving me first-hand experience of both training and competition within the club.

As Vice President, I aim to support fencers across all levels, from beginners to competitive athletes. I believe a strong club balances performance with inclusivity, ensuring members feel supported, challenged, and motivated. I would work closely with the committee to improve communication, assist with the organisation of practices and fixtures, and help ensure competitions run smoothly and fairly, drawing on my refereeing and professional background where appropriate.

I am reliable, organised, and ready to take responsibility when needed. Most importantly, I value listening to members’ concerns and ideas, and I would strive to represent their interests while helping the club grow both competitively and socially.

I am committed to giving back to the UCL Fencing Club and helping it remain a supportive, ambitious, and well-run community.
