Atticus Tiplady

If I have not met you yet, my name is Atticus Tiplady, and I am running to be your 2026/27 UCL Dance SOC Liaison Officer. 

I have been pursuing dance for nine years now, ever since I first saw my brother dance a club remix of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song. I still remember walking into that studio for the first time, feeling immediately intimidated, yet I stayed. Something about the music, community and small glimpses of belonging kept me coming back all these years later. This sense of belonging that I once felt 10 years ago is why I care about this society. 

The Liaison Officer sits in a position, acting as a link between the instructors, the Student Union, the committee, and fellow dancers. Ranging from managing weekly sign-ups to organizing various workshops, coordinating Term 3 student-led workshops and producing things such as the Spring Showcase, the Liason Officer Position makes sure everything runs smoothly, a position I see myself in in the future.

Moreover, other leadership opportunities, such as serving as the Head Peer Tutor in high school, Outdoor Education Leader, and assisting a Hip-Hop class for six years, have taught me how vital proper organization and teamwork are. These roles also taught me how to use communication skills and active listening to make everyone feel heard across society.
