Giverny Kwok

Hii everyone, my name is Giverny, a first-year nutrition and medical sciences student and I’m running for Diversity and Inclusion Officer!

From freshers show to comps, I’ve met many incredible people from all backgrounds and have felt incredibly welcomed right from the start. I truly appreciate how diverse and inclusive dance soc already is, creating a platform for everyone that share the same passion.

Having stepped into a whole new dance style myself this year, I understand the nerves and worries about giving a new style a go (yes, I was intimidated). This is why I’m keen on creating spaces where everyone feels encouraged and supported to try something new without the fear of judgment.

I’ve also been around collecting feedback from members, ideas that could possibly be brought to life in the coming year, such as including more workshops for niche styles that may not get as much spotlight and creating more opportunities for beginners that may be looking to be more involved.

Having experienced the inclusiveness of the society, I hope to create the same experience (or even more!) for everyone that joins the society next year :) 🫶🏻💕☺️
