Chinese Students and Scholars Association Society: Head of Liaison and Public Relations

Hello everyone, I am Wenxuan Hu, a Physics first year student at UCL, and I am very pleased to stand for election as Head of the External Relations Department of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association.

I believe the role of the External Relations Department is not only to secure partnerships, but more importantly to turn external resources into practical support that can genuinely serve students and support student union activities. If elected, I will focus on the following three areas.

First, I will take the initiative to expand partnership resources. Based on the actual needs of UCL Chinese students in daily life, events, and career development, I will prioritise reaching out to businesses in catering, entertainment, and lifestyle services, as well as alumni resources. Rather than pursuing partnerships blindly for the sake of quantity, I will focus on those with strong potential for long-term cooperation, high relevance to students’ daily needs, and good alignment with student union activities.

Second, I will work to ensure partnerships are implemented effectively and developed further. Before making contact, I will first clarify the needs of each event and the forms of cooperation we can offer. When communicating with merchants or other partners, I will aim to confirm sponsorship details, publicity arrangements, timelines, and responsibilities in advance, so as to reduce last-minute changes and repeated communication. Hi! I’m Amanda Chen from the CSSA Liaisons and Public Relations team and I’m running to be its head. It would mean the world to me to have your vote! :D

I’m running for this role because I want to strengthen the connections between CSSA, businesses, and the wider student community. My goal is to build meaningful partnerships that bring real opportunities and resources to our members.

I believe external relations should go beyond sponsorships. It is about expanding our network, representing our community well, and making CSSA more visible across London. With my experience in the team and the connections I have built, I am confident I can help grow CSSA’s partnerships and support more exciting events for our members.
