Hi everyone! I am a second-year Biomedical Engineering student and have been a member of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu club for about a year. I'm running for the role of Social Secretary for the upcoming academic year.

I've been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for around a year and a half now and find it an extremely challenging and rewarding sport. Being part of the UCL club has allowed me to join a community of driven, supportive, and committed people, which is something I really value.

One thing I'd love to build on is the social side of the society. When I first joined, I found the idea of attending uni BJJ classes a bit intimidating, and it was actually going to a social event first that helped me feel welcomed and comfortable within the club. Because of that experience, I believe regular socials can play an important role in helping new members integrate and making the society even more inclusive.

If I'm elected, I'd aim to organise more consistent socials such as movie nights, pool at the IOE (a personal favourite), and other casual events where members can get to know each other outside of training. I'd also like to collaborate with other societies for joint social events and plan a social calendar early in the term so people can look forward to and plan around upcoming events.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and I hope I can help make the society even more welcoming and fun next year :)
