Eunis Chan

Hi everyone, I’m Eunis and I am running for Social Secretary because I enjoy meeting new people and helping others feel included. Being a biomedical sciences student in the first year, I understand how overwhelming university can be, especially in a large cohort where it’s easy to feel isolated. I want to help create a welcoming community where everyone feels valued and connected.

In my first year, I’ve enjoyed taking part in events organized by the Biomed Society, whether it is from internship panels to socials like the first-year party and Take Me Out. With previous committee experience in secondary school, I believe I have the skills to manage logistics and collaborate effectively for fun and meaningful events.

As a Social Secretary, I plan to:

• Organise more fundraising and volunteering opportunities
• Increase collaborations with biotechnology, pharmaceutical companies to give a clue for students about career choices after Biomed
• Create socials and schemes that connect Year 1 students with seniors, particularly the continuation of Biomed families
• Offer a mix of low-pressure bonding events (movie nights or desserts night socials) and larger socials (Biomed balls or career-social crossover events or charity challenge nights)

Ultimately, my aim is to help students manage stress by combining studying with fun elements to create a rewarding learning experience —because who says you can’t revise and have a good laugh at the same time?!
