Hi everyone!!! I’m Talia, a 2nd year student. Like most of us, I found Biomedical Sciences pretty overwhelming at first, but this society is where I actually found my feet. Between the 3rd years who helped me navigate my career stress and the 1st years I’ve supported as a Transition Mentor, I’ve seen firsthand how an inclusive and engaging society makes all the difference. I’m running for President to ensure we continue building a welcoming environment where every student feels they belong.

My Plan:

  • Career Clarity: We’ve all felt lost in such a broad degree. I want to continue the eye-opening talks that show our opportunities are endless - from the lab to the corporate office. I’ll expand our internship and networking panels and introduce Guided Lab Visits so we can see the science we're studying in action.
  • Sharing the "Unwritten" Rules: I want us to be a resource for each other. I'll focus on sharing tips for navigating modules so no one has to struggle through the same mistakes we did.
  • Socials: I want to ensure our calendar has something for everyone. This includes inter-society mixers plus events with other biomed societies across London, wholesome activities like museum trips, and of course, a top-tier Boat Ball.

I’ve spent this year as a mentor helping freshers find their way at UCL, and now I’m ready to put that energy into making this society the best part of our degree!!
