Eileen Susanto

Hello everyone! I'm Eileen and as someone who has been baking for 5 years, I’m extremely excited to be standing for the Welfare Officer for Baking Society! 

I believe that a society thrives not only on shared interests, but also on how supported and included the members feel. Baking is often associated with warmth and community, and as Welfare Officer, I would ensure that the Baking Society truly reflects those qualities. I made many new friends through this society over the last few months and I want to ensure that this society keeps being an inclusive environment where anyone feels comfortable attending the sessions, regardless of their baking experience or background.

I have previously volunteered to teach at a primary school and was an active member of the student council in high school. Throughout my 5 years of being an officer in the student council, I learnt to work with others as well as communicate with others, whether it be a fellow officer, teacher, or student. Additionally, volunteering with kids taught me the importance of making myself approachable to anyone who needs a listening ear.

Being able to be the welfare officer for the Baking Society means a lot to me! With my experiences and passion for baking, I believe I could be a welfare officer that creates an atmosphere where everybody feels like they belong.
