Aliyah Paydar-Edwards

I am standing for this role for three key reasons. Firstly, I am an aspiring pilot. As a result, I regularly attend aviation workshops, webinars and work experience with major companies like British Airways, the Royal Air Force and many more. By having so much contact with such companies, I would seek to forge partnerships that I can bring to Avsoc. Secondly, I am enormously enthusiastic about aviation. Why does this matter? It matters because it shows that I will put in just as much energy and attention into Avsoc as I do my studies. Hence, this role won't be a second thought but a role that I will persistently and proactively engage with. Finally, I am methodical when it comes to organising tasks and responsibilities. With that said, I will channel the same diligence into the management of the society's event planning, that is expected of an events head.

Deng Warng Kong

Who am I?

My name is Kong, and I’m a first-year economics student with a long-standing passion for aviation. What began as a childhood fascination with planes during trips to the airport turned into countless hours in flight simulators, and eventually into a serious ambition of becoming a pilot for my home country.

Why am I Standing?

I’m standing for Event Head because I believe events define the identity and momentum of a society. A strong society isn’t built on one or two standout moments but on consistency, structure, and having something to look forward to throughout the year. Events also bring people together, building a tight-knit and engaged community that is as welcoming as Emirates boarding music.

What changes would I bring?

If elected, I would bring consistency and direction to our events through:

  • A clear event roadmap at the start of the year
  • Run more frequent plane-spotting trips to keep engagement high (at least monthly)
  • High-impact aviation experiences such as a Mach Loop trip (subject to feasibility), museum visits, and airshows
  • More social events to strengthen our internal community
  • Collaborations with other societies to expand our reach

TL:DR: I want to build a society known for being active, organised, and welcoming, where AVgeeks and aviation-curious students alike can connect through consistent, meaningful events.

If you want a structured, engaged, and growing aviation society, I would appreciate your vote. Let’s aim for a five-star rating on Skytrax.
