Election post
During my internship with Lenovo’s legal team, I was directly involved in developing their internal AI tool. I regularly experimented with external legal AI platforms like Spellbook AI and test-ran Lenovo's internal progress. Witnessing how AI can automate contract drafting and enhance legal efficiency so much so that I, with no formal legal training, could draft comprehensive contracts in minutes was truly transformative.
Attending Slaughter and May’s ‘Navigating the World of Legal Technology’ recently, I gained insight into how they use the AI tool Atticus to streamline time-consuming verification processes in corporate transactions. This innovation originated from junior lawyers, who identified the potential of legal technology to automate mundane tasks and successfully pitched the idea to partners. This reinforced the importance of being proactive, innovative, and digitally literate as the next generation of legal professionals, ensuring we are prepared to drive efficiency and contribute to the evolution of legal practice.
As President, I will:
- Partner with leading firms (e.g., A&O’s Fuse) to bring in industry experts for exclusive talks
- Collaborate with the Law Society to increase event engagement
- Launch monthly legal tech updates on social media to ensure members stay ahead of key developments
By leading the Legal Tech Society, I am eager to cultivate a forward-thinking and digitally literate generation of lawyers who are equipped to shape the evolving legal landscape.
