Election post
I'm running for vice president because I would love to make everyone feel just as welcome as I did when I joined the society. I remember seeing Hindu society perform at the welcome fair during freshers week - it immediately felt like home.
I've learnt so much more about my religion and culture through the society, and by being First Year Representative this year, I've gained a first hand insight on how our events are organised, be it Diwali Ball or Rangeela. Taking part in the National Dharmic Games and leading Sanskaar Sessions has further enabled me to gain an all rounder perspective into how Hindu Society works, along with honing my ability to bring people together.
As vice president next year, not only would I help lead and contribute to one of the sub teams (Sanskaar or Sports) and operationally lead events, I would also focus on collaboration events with other societies at UCL, help spread the word about Kho and potentially a Kabaddi team (since these are games of Indian origin - raising awareness across UCL would allow more people to participate and showcase their skills), along with introducing more creative sessions: some ideas include Eco friendly Clay Murti making for Ganesh Chaturthi, or sustainable Holi colour making workshop. Moreover, having interned in corporate funding for ESG initiatives, I can help create more UCL HSoc workshops in corporate organisations. And of course, there would be plenty more HSoc Bollywood movie nights next year!!
