Hi! I’m Theo, and I’m extremely passionate about the Gaming Society and our events. Attending every offline event thus far, I have felt what makes them successful. Guided by this, my aims as events officer can be distilled into three realistic principles:
More Diverse Events - A more diverse range of events encourages more people to attend by appealing to as many interests as possible. They also provide new ways to meet and interact with friends. Examples include: sports/activity based events, movie nights and smaller scale events like crafts socials.
More Collaboration Events - Collaborations with other universities and societies have led to our highest attendance numbers yet. They allow people to meet others they would not have met otherwise, and help the events’ economic sustainability.
Maintaining Previous Events - The quality and quantity of events thus far have been exceptional, and I by no means intend to change that. The aforementioned additions would only improve upon the current regularity of events with particular increase to the number of events during freshers week. This includes keeping the established culture of inclusivity and safety at the forefront of all events.
I would work closely with the committee, the game-admins and members to ensure that events are tailored as much as possible to the wants of those attending them. These events have made my first year of uni; I’d be honoured to receive the role and pass on my experience. Thank you for your consideration.
