Singapore Society: Creative Director

Hello! I’m Alastair, a first-year Architecture student. It has been fun working with the talented cast and crew of this year’s Play as Director, and I hope that by running for Creative Director, I would be able to extend this fun beyond the Play to the rest of SingSoc.

A bit about me: Architecture allows me to be constantly immersed in a creative and collaborative environment. I was also previously part of English Theatre Society where I led as Stage Manager. These experiences have given me a better understanding of the leadership needed to design good stuff and deliver quality productions.

Leading the cast and crew has also made me think about how I can improve things, especially without a Creative Director this year.

If I am given the opportunity to serve, I will work to:

1. Re-envision our annual Production: I hope to shake up the format we plan performances by consulting our members about what they are interested in. It need not be a play, and I’m excited that some of us are interested in musicals, dances and even comedic standups!

2. Develop a streamlined planning process: I will tap on my past experiences and work closely with other EXCOs. to make the planning process more efficient and fun.

3. Collaborate with other Societies and SingSocs: I believe that there are opportunities to cooperate on the creative frontier like combined shows!
