Hi girls :)
I’m Melodie, BSc Economics and Statistics student hoping to be your Welfare Officer. I know how important it is to feel like you truly belong in a safe and accepting community where people can be themselves, so my first priority will always be Your Welfare.
About why I fit this role…
- Have worked as a helpline volunteer at Youth Talk for six months, speaking and listening to the struggles and mental health issues of vulnerable teenagers.
- Great interest in researching mental health and wellbeing, completing a research project on the psychological impact of participating in digital feminism for female survivors in #Metoo.
- Always commented by friends as a good listener that can engage others in natural and easy conversation to find out how they are getting on.
About my key goals…
- Organizing welfare awareness events and adopting a special focus on increasing diversity, inclusion and accessibility through event series, multi-platform feedback channels and close cooperation with other officers and the Students' Union.
- Introducing drop-in hours so everyone can come to me with any campaign or welfare ideas they want to discuss.
- Managing the Welfare Officer Funding Pot properly to make sure it’s delegated evenly and democratically.
We all may need help at some point in our lives and I would love to make WinF Society a place in which everyone can find support and feel part of something ❤.

Hi! My name is Jaya Nagi and I am excited to be running for the Head of Welfare of the Women In Finance Society. I believe this is a very important role as it mainly focuses on the mental health and well being of students. Being at a prestigious university like UCL can come with academic and social stresses. Therefore I believe it is important that members know that there is help and support readily available.
If I was elected as Welfare Officer, my main objectives would include:
- Make the Women in Finance society a welcoming and stress-free environment, allowing people to broaden their horizons about the financial sector
-Create a medium for anybody to talk to me about their concerns and worries, as well as providing sufficient advice and support. This could be done online or in person, anonymous or in group sessions, whatever is preferred
-Raise awareness about the importance of good mental health and ways to improve one’s mental health, be it through workshops, social events, or sharing materials and resources
-Work with UCL services to inform others of the many ways the university is here to help and support students with their concerns
I am extremely passionate about mental health, and would want to everybody to feel comfortable and know that they are welcome to approach me in person or online about anything on their mind. I am empathetic and would be happy to help in any way possible!

Hi everyone! I’m Nehir, a First-Year Representative at WinF. Being a part of WinF has been an amazing experience and a way for me to learn the inner workings of our society. During my time at WinF, I realised the importance of empowerment and support for one another. I am running for Head of Welfare to build upon society’s success while also maintaining these core values to bring greater diversity to the finance industry.
As Head of Welfare, I hope to further involve each member of WinF in planning our welfare events. I look forward to establishing a regular feedback channel for our members to raise any suggestions that they may have. This way, every member of WinF can take the responsibility for creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels supported. Secondly, I plan to collaborate with the Relations & Outreach division for their great initiatives to better promote gender diversity in many areas such as tech. And lastly, I am determined to expand on the success of our mentorship programme by organizing mental health workshops for our members who are applying for spring and summer internships.
Having experienced WinF’s committee in my first year, I believe that I have a solid understanding of society’s inner workings and its relationship with the Students’ Union and I would very much welcome the opportunity to push the objectives of WinF as Head of Welfare!
