Although missing many events and matches on term 1 due to injury, the whole society, and specially the BUCS captains, made it really easy for me to become a member of this family.
This greatly motivated me to try and help Team UCL Tennis deliver the best results possible and attempt to make this society more competitive each year.
Under my captaincy, I will not only aim to achieve maximum performance amongst our BUCS players to make the UCL Tennis as competitive as possible, but also to maintain the lively community the society has built over these past years.
l am standing to continue the good work done this year and use my own experiences to captain the team in a way that I believe would be best. Having played on the BUCS teams this year, I know what is expected of a captain and their duties and this is something I am confident I can do. From a team viewpoint I would like to do more team socials in whatever form that may be in order to promote a team ethos and encourage the players to commit to practices and matches which will also improve team camaraderie. Having been a part of the society for the past year I have met many of the people within the society and would be confident whoever is elected for the other positions I would be able to liaise with them including with the other captains to organise events. From last year I would change the squad size in order to account for any players having commitments outside of tennis or injuries for example. From a society viewpoint I would greatly encourage the team to come to the Wednesday socials so they can be better connected to the society and its members and this would have the knock on effect of making the society itself much more integrated.

“A winning mindset isn’t about seeking a result—it’s about the process of achieving that result.” - Kobe Bryant
Winners and losers have the same goal, but their approach is what separates them. Focusing on processes, instead of outcomes, is a strong characteristic of mine. Having led my high school team to the final of the UK National Championships, I believe that I can help create a winning process as your captain.
Firstly, practices will be held at a national level standard. By practising with the Thai National Team during my gap year, I know how professional players train. Practices will be fun, demanding, and competitive to simulate matches. This will allow players to improve, push, and learn from each other. Winning does not start on the match court, it starts on the practice court.
Secondly, I will ensure that a Winning Culture is created. We represent UCL as 4 players in 1. Strong connections can be built anywhere, whether that be at the pub, library, or gym. As the captain, I will make time to care for and listen to everybody. By paying attention, speaking truthfully, and empowering each other, our unity will translate into wins.
Finally, it is important to have fun. As the captain, I will organise team dinners, plan to attend ATP events, and organise charity tournaments to make this journey as fun as possible. As a team, we will play hard and work even harder.
I look forward to helping you become the best version of you.
