Help us celebrate marginalised voices with Liberate: The Phineas Art Gallery
Are you an artist with a story to tell? You could have your art displayed in Phineas.
As Equity and Inclusion Officer, I am on a mission to amplify the voices of marginalised communities across campus. Liberate, The Phineas Art Gallery will enable our communities to reclaim narratives through the power of art. We're celebrating diverse perspectives and inviting you to join the movement that is redefining representation. Read on to find out how you can submit your art...
The deadline for submission is 17 February 2025
Why Liberate?
We have chosen this theme to provide a platform for marginalised voices that are often underrepresented in creative spaces. By prioritising members of UCL’s liberation networks, we aim to create a gallery that not only showcases artistic talent but also amplifies stories and perspectives that challenge dominant narratives, celebrate diversity, and inspire dialogue. Art has the power to reclaim narratives, foster empathy, and drive meaningful change—this gallery seeks to embody exactly that.
Who can submit?
This is open to all students! We welcome submissions across various artistic mediums, including:
- Painting
- Photography
- Digital art (printable on paper)
- Canvas (printable on paper)
No matter your style or experience level, if your work speaks to the theme of "liberating marginalised voices" , we want to hear from you.
This is what you submitted in the past...
What’s in it for you?
Your submission will enter into a competition which will be judged by your elected Student Officers (POC, Disabled Students, LGBTQ+, Trans Students, Women's) and Arts Officer and moderated by the Equity and Inclusion Officer.
We'll showcase selected artwork across our channels and on campus, spotlighting your submissions, and celebrating your talents. We will be having a gallery opening night in late February, open to all to honour your art!
