We're making improvements to your favourite places on campus. Gordon's Café and the Print Room Café are next in line for refurbishment after our recent relaunch of the TeamUCL gym
Our Sabbatical Officers have been working closely with UCL to make sure your most loved spaces on campus continue to improve. Officers have been busy making the case to UCL to enhance student spaces on campus, and their work has led to a long-term plan to invest in and develop Students' Union spaces.
Our spaces (bars, cafes, gym, and activity spaces) should feel like home and be the centre of your campus community. We ask thousands of you what you want from our spaces each year. The feedback is clear: You want spaces to socialise, unwind, focus quietly, and make the most of your time on campus. Our Sabbs have been advocating for these improvements and have made sure your needs have been well-represented in discussions that impact your experience on campus.
Up next:
Gordon's Cafe
Refurbishment works: Gordon's will be closed from Friday 28th March and will reopen on Tuesday 29th April.
Gordon's Café at 25 Gordon Street serves thousands of students and staff each week, and we heard your feedback that it needed a little update. So, when Gordon's Café's door closes at the end of Friday 28th March for the Easter break, we're excited to say that it will have undergone a complete transformation when they reopen again on Tuesday 29th April.

As well as having a new look we'll be introducing more seating and a larger counter for faster service. We'll continue to stock all your favourites, but in term three we're also going to add to our line up with the more sushi meals and we're also very excited to say we'll have a brand new coffee supplier too: Volcano Coffee Works.
Meet Volcano Coffee Works
We've been looking for a while to find a new coffee and tea supplier for all our Union cafés that aligns with our sustainability values. So we can't wait for you to try your next Volcano Coffee next term.

🗓️ Save the date! Gordon's reopens and Volcano Coffee Works arrives at the start of term 3. To celebrate we'll have a series of free coffee events and giveaways just for you. More details coming soon.
Coming Soon:
Print Room Cafe
Refurbishment works: Print Room Café is anticipated to be closed from mid June - August 2025
The cosy Print Room Cafe, right at the heart of campus, is a hidden gem. With a huge outside seating area, the snug interior is a place you want to spend long afternoons studying, meeting friends, or just enjoying a relaxed breakfast. With loads of food options on the menu, the Print Room is one of your favourites.
The refurbishment will introduce more comfy seating areas, benches for quick catch-ups between lectures, and easier access to the counter to place your order.
Work is due to start in June 2025.

More to be announced
We're working on plans to upgrade the Clubs and Societies Common Room and the Conference Room in the Bloomsbury Theatre building. More to come on these exciting projects soon.
Project completed:
The TeamUCL Gym
Over the winter break, Bloomsbury Fitness underwent a complete refurbishment, reopening its doors as the TeamUCL Gym. The new gym is modern, spacious, and designed to give you a much better workout experience.
The new TeamUCL gym reopened in January with over 80 top-of-the-line equipment pieces, a spacious free-weights section, and an accessible, thoughtfully designed layout. These upgrades have transformed the gym into a state-of-the-art fitness space that you enjoy being in.
We’re delighted to have secured funding from UCL to refurbish the gym. Students deserve access to high-quality fitness facilities, and this investment ensures they have the resources to prioritise their health and wellbeing while managing their studies.
