The Lunar New Year, a celebration of new beginnings, is an important and festive holiday for many of our Chinese and East Asian student community.
Lunar New Year, also referred to as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, takes place from the 10th of February, and celebrations culminate with the Lantern Festival on February 24th, 2024. It marks the start of a new year as determined by the traditional lunar calendar. Every year is marked by one of twelve animal zodiacs on a twelve year cycle. This year will be the year of the Dragon. The celebrations are about starting on a clean slate, cleansing the negative and welcoming the positive, and setting intentions for a prosperous, lucky and fulfilling year.
