UCL is London's Global University. We're home to 18,000 students from outside the UK, so International Festival (Feb 19 - Feb 23) our week-long programme of events and activities in which we celebrate the diversity of our UCL community, is an incredibly important celebration in our calendar.
Who is it for?
The festival is for everyone – whether you’re an international student keen to showcase your heritage, or a home student with an interest in learning and understanding more about the world around you, you’ve come to the right place!
University is all about expanding your horizons, trying something new and learning more about the world around you… so get involved if you can.
What’s on?
We’ve got an action-packed events programme so you can dip in and out throughout the week at a time that suits you. Our celebrations are based around three themes – Experience, Educate and Explore.
From Swedish taster sessions with the Nordic Society, to a Chinese Calligraphy and Origami Workshop with the UCLCSSA Society, be curious and try something new.
Or if you're a bit of a foodie, why not immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Mexican culture and tuck into delicious tamales alongside the Mexican Society as they celebrate Candlemas Day. We'd also recommend the International Food Festival in the Main Quad where you'll be able to experience the tantalizing tastes of Mexico, the exotic spices of Sri Lanka, and the savoury delights of Greece.
Be a part of the legacy of International Festival
To continue the legacy of the International Festival and the wonderful diversity of the UCL community, we're looking for as many student recipes as possible for our Students' Union cookbook 'Tastes Like Home.'
Does a particular recipe remind you of home? Perhaps there's a dish that has been passed down in your family? Or maybe there's a meal you cook or bake on special occasions? We aim to compile all recipes into a printed cookbook, which will be sold to raise money for the Hardship Fund.
