Welcome Week is in the books

This was the SU's first Welcome Week here at the School of Management, plus the first time we welcomed a cohort of undergraduates who will be based full-time at 1 Canada Square. From mini-golf to some unreal views from Level 50, it was a smashing success... and just the start of what's to come at the School of Management this year!

Mini-golf madness

Canary Wharf is known for its pop-up events, and this summer's highlight was a brightly coloured minigolf range. It also held the honour of hosting the first-ever SU School of Management Welcome event--plus, quite a few of our participants' first time playing minigolf. With pink golf clubs to match our rose, it was the perfect kick-off-- or, er, tee-off?-- to the weeks to come.

Welcome to the Docklands

Canary Wharf is a fascinating area with a rich history, and we spent some time learning about it. First, we sent our new BSc International Management students on a scavenger hunt to learn about the area, from the art to the grocery stores. Now we just need someone to assemble a guide to the local meal deals...

Next, we stopped in at the London Museum Docklands to learn about the history of the area in depth. Our tour guide Roxie was a delight, but even if you can't have her expert guidance, you should check out their collections, which are free to visit.

Wine, cheese... and victory

Our Wine and Cheese night on the 30th was a fantastic evening, with a capacity crowd who were way bigger fans of blue cheese than we expected. We should have known you'd be a classy lot.

The Bingo competition did get heated, and it was such fun to see students from all of our campuses bonding over some wine and games, not to mention the view of the Docklands from one of the tallest buildings in the borough.

What's next?

We've already got some cosy autumn crafting scheduled for later in October, and you should keep an eye out for us popping up with more information about SU services and activities, but all of this is just the beginning.

You've seen a sampling of what we can offer... so what do you want to see from the SU this year? Reach out to us at [email protected] with your ideas, big and small, and we'll try to make it happen.

Remember, if you're wondering who to talk to...
