This impact report reflects on the key developments and outcomes of the Active Bystander Programme across the 2024–25 academic year, highlighting progress in workshop delivery, student learning, and programme quality.
Between September 2024 and March 2025, over 330 workshops were booked by departments, and over 6,006 students completed both the online and live workshops. Over 9,000 students completed at least one element of the training. There was an increase of 26% in attendance of the live workshop, showing a growing commitment from students to practically apply Active Bystander skills. Students continue to report highly positive experiences across both the online module and the live workshops, noting that the training strengthened their understanding of bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct and increased their confidence in addressing harmful behaviours on and off campus.
Our model of peer-to-peer delivery continues to provide value to participants and student workshop leaders themselves. Students appreciated the interactive approach, clear explanations and opportunities to reflect on their own responses. They found the sessions empowering, practical and relevant to university life.
Our analysis of this feedback has found that:
- 78% of students rated the online module 4/5 or above for usefulness
- 94% of students rated their Workshop Leader 4/5 or above for in‑person workshops.
- 88% of students rated the live workshop 4/5 or above for helping them feel more prepared to intervene.
- 94% of students rated the workshop leader as 4/5 or above.
