Block locking lets you protect specific blocks so that editors can’t accidentally change, move, or delete them while editing a page.

How to lock a block

  1. Select the block you want to lock.
  2. Open the block toolbar (three-dot “More options” menu).
  3. Choose “Lock”.
  4. Pick your locking options:
    • Disable movement → Prevents dragging or reordering.
    • Disable removal → Prevents deletion.
    • You can enable both for full protection.
  5. Click Apply.

Unlocking a block

  • A locked block shows a lock icon.
  • To unlock, open the same menu → “Unlock”.
  • Only users with the right permissions can unlock blocks (in Drupal, this is tied to Gutenberg’s editing permissions).
