Your voice, your hall, your community.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

In self-catered halls like John Dodgson House, it can be hard to make friends. I want to make our hall more welcoming. I would listen first, talking to residents and using short anonymous surveys to ask what would help people connect, and about everyday issues and shared spaces. I would work with the Student Residence Advisers to plan activities based on this feedback. I would take residents’ views to the Welfare and Community Zone and the Accommodation Managers, so people see their feedback lead to real change.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I listen and take different views seriously. As an Academic Representative, I gathered feedback through surveys and conversations. As a Transition Mentor, I support first-year students settling in, including making friends, and pass their feedback to staff. I know how to make quiet or shy people feel included. I have helped organise socials and student activities, and as a volunteer I organised awareness activities where participation rose by over 40%. I work well with different people, and I follow things through by telling students what happened.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me if you want a hall where making friends feels easy. In self-catered halls like John Dodgson House, it’s hard to meet people. I will listen first, through conversations and anonymous surveys, then plan events around what you tell me. I will make our shared spaces feel more welcoming for everyone. I will take your views to the Accommodation Managers and report back on what happened. As an Academic Representative and Transition Mentor, I already listen to students and act on their feedback.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to make John Dodgson a genuinely sociable hall where people make friends beyond their own flats and have something fun to look forward to each week. I’d aim to run regular, affordable events, from inter-flat competitions and themed socials to pizza-making nights and group trips around London. I’d also listen to residents’ ideas and try new events based on what people actually enjoy, creating a welcoming community where everyone feels included, even if they arrive knowing nobody.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I’m enthusiastic, approachable and love bringing people together. Through running my own online business and serving as a Legal Director in Young Enterprise, I’ve developed strong organisation, communication and problem-solving skills, from coordinating projects to turning ideas into reality. I’d bring that same initiative to hall life, planning events that are creative, well-organised and genuinely enjoyable. I’m also happy to take the lead, get people involved and make sure events feel welcoming rather than cliquey, so residents feel comfortable joining in even if they come alone.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me if you want to make John Dodgson feel like a real community, not just a building full of separate flats! I want to get people out of their rooms, meeting neighbours and making friends through fun, regular events, from inter-flat competitions to themed socials and pizza nights. My goal is to create a lively, welcoming social environment where people feel comfortable getting involved, friendships form beyond individual flats, and everyone has the chance to make the most of their university experience.
