I was previously a Course Rep at the University of Liverpool, actively contributing to the SSLC and Curriculum Board. I advocated for changes based on student experience, including introductory teaching on the ethical and responsible use of AI for first-year students, which was eventually implemented. As Arab Society Vice-President, I helped lead a diverse committee that raised around £10,000 for communities affected by war. Finally, as the Judo Club Captain, I learned to bring together students with different experiences and represent the interests of the wider club.
I want PGT students to feel that their opinions are more than a note for someone to consider next year. I want to actively follow up on the concerns and ideas they raise, working towards resolving them where possible while keeping students informed throughout. Even when change takes time, students should be able to see what happened because they spoke up and know that their experiences have genuinely contributed to improving UCL.
I strongly believe that the student experience is an important part of academic success. Students across the Faculty have valuable feedback, that the staff want to act on, but this feedback does not always reach the people who can make decisions at Faculty level. I want to connect students and reps across programmes, bring their shared concerns and ideas to the Faculty, and make sure they are properly followed up. I believe students should vote for me if they want their concerns to lead to action, and to see how their feedback is contributing to change at UCL.
