Election post

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

As a Volunteering Rep, I aim to increase student engagement with volunteering opportunities and promote the benefits of volunteering for both individuals and the wider community. Volunteering provides opportunities for personal growth, motivation, and development, while also benefiting the wider community, such as promoting a more supportive culture and increasing impact through the relationships formed within volunteering schemes and charity work.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

With two years of experience, I am enthusiastic about promoting volunteering opportunities that give back to the community. Since 2023, I have worked with Girlguiding, where I gained my Unit Leader qualification and managed a Brownie unit for 7-to 10-year-olds. I have organised fundraising events, with proceeds reinvested in the unit to enhance the experiences of young members, such as residentials. I have also been volunteering for a local Autism & ADHD Parent Support Group, where I participate in fundraising events for community projects that support families with neurodivergent children.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I will bring my two years of volunteering experience to the table to actively promote the opportunities available for students to get involved in their local area. My experiences through active engagement in two charities have led me to feel confident that I will be able to work collaboratively with the wider Activities Zone team at UCL to enhance student activities and help other students to appreciate the rewarding nature of being part of a supportive, friendly community, forming new friendships.
