Hi everyone, I’m Yiling (Cynthia) from the Institute of Education. With a background in Applied Linguistics and experience in cross-cultural communication and event organization, I’ve learned how to listen, collaborate, and connect people from diverse backgrounds. As a Faculty Rep, I will bring strong communication skills, empathy, and commitment to representing students’ voices and promoting open dialogue between students and staff. I aim to help build an inclusive and supportive community where everyone feels respected, informed, and encouraged to contribute.
If elected, I hope to build a diverse, inclusive, and supportive community within the Institute of Education. My goal is to ensure every student’s voice is heard and valued, and feedback is represented constructively in faculty discussions. I will strengthen communication between students, staff, and the Students’ Union, making sure information and opportunities are shared clearly. Most importantly, I hope to foster a stronger sense of belonging and collaboration, where students from all backgrounds feel respected, supported, and empowered to shape a better learning experience together.
Students should vote for me because I care deeply about equality, inclusion, and student wellbeing. Coming from an international school background, I understand the diverse challenges international students face and value treating everyone with fairness and respect. My experience in cross-cultural communication and event organisation has taught me how to listen, collaborate, and represent different voices effectively. As your Faculty Rep, I will strengthen communication between students and staff and help build a supportive and inclusive community where every student feels valued and heard.
I bring multicultural leadership experience from my time bridging language and cultural gaps to serve a community of 50+ nationalities as a Coordinator for International Relations in Japan. My time abroad taught me the difficulties of adapting to new environments and the importance of empathy, and I offer creative problem-solving skills and determination to advocate for positive change. I also love to connect with people and share knowledge, and these qualities enable me to facilitate meaningful dialogue, ensure inclusive representation, and make sure our voices are heard.
If elected, I plan to organize networking events between IOE departments to share research and brainstorm ideas. As a first-gen student, I also understand the difficulty of navigating academia and next steps after graduation, so I plan to collaborate with career services and professors to highlight their experiences and expand students' understanding of available pathways. I'll also connect the IOE to London's community through partnerships with local charities and organizations to provide students with hands-on experience and fulfill the IOE's mission to create positive change.
You should vote for me as Faculty Representative because I listen carefully, bring people together, and turn ideas into action. I will use my experience and passion for education and policy to represent our diverse voices and drive change in our community.
As your representative, I will work to ensure every student feels connected, included, and prepared for life after the IOE. I also aim to ensure every student can make the most out of their experience at UCL. Together, we can further foster a community that values creativity, collaboration, and change, and leave a legacy for those who follow.
As an educator and artist who has worked in (and grown up in big) communities, I value advocating for inclusive and welcoming learning spaces for all. I bring empathy, organisation, enthusiasm, and a keen collaborative spirit to everything I do, and aim to represent diverse PGT voices across the IOE. As a woman of colour, I also bring lived experience and a commitment to equity, collective care, and building a bridge between students, staff, and other communities. I thoroughly enjoy talking to people, and am excited to hear people's perspectives and translate ideas into tangible actions!
Through the PGT Representative role, I hope to build a more connected and compassionate PGT community at IOE where every student- especially international and underrepresented voices- feels valued and heard. I would work towards strengthening communication between students and faculty, support Course Reps in raising issues, and advocate for transparent decisions that turn feedback into change through open forums or student drop-ins. I want to highlight creative student initiatives, and ensure IOE policies truly reflect the diversity of our postgraduate realities.
I care deeply about how we learn and how we belong at IOE. I listen actively, and having worked with students and people across ages, sectors, and backgrounds, I prioritise empathy, safety, and student well-being. Moreover, as an international student, I understand the challenges of new environments, and am excite to make IOE feel like home for more people. I'm also excited to learn how to facilitate feedback loops, hear student voices, and spark connections that turn our diverse voices into a strong, joyful, and supportive community of learners, educators, and changemakers.
As an international student with a diverse academic and teaching background, I bring a unique perspective to the role of Faculty Representative. Compared to many postgraduate students, I am older, which gives me additional maturity, life experience, and a strong sense of responsibility. Having worked as a student representative and taught in an international high school, I have developed excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, allowing me to understand students’ concerns deeply and convey their feedback effectively to faculty members.
I hope to achieve several key goals. First, I aim to ensure that students’ voices are heard and their academic concerns are effectively communicated to faculty members, leading to meaningful improvements in teaching and learning. Second, I plan to foster a more inclusive and supportive academic environment by actively engaging with students from diverse backgrounds, including international and mature students, and gathering their perspectives. Third, I hope to strengthen collaboration between students and staff, promoting initiatives that enhance the overall educational experience.
Students should vote for me because I bring a strong combination of teaching experience, academic knowledge, and technical skills. Having worked as a teacher in an international high school, I have developed excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities that enable me to understand students’ needs and advocate for them effectively. I have already earned a master’s degree and am well-versed in IT and educational technology, which allows me to engage with modern learning tools and support digital initiatives within the faculty.
I bring strong leadership, advocacy, and communication skills from roles as Head Girl, student representative, Economics Society President, and NGO founder. My internships at the National Assembly, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce, and University of Sialkot strengthened my policy, research, and collaboration skills, enabling me to engage with complex educational issues. I am proactive, empathetic, and solution-oriented, committed to amplifying student voices, fostering inclusivity, and enhancing academic engagement.
If elected, I will ensure every student’s voice is heard and valued. Having studied and interned across all departments in my father’s university, I gained a dual perspective of student realities and management challenges, enabling me to advocate effectively. Drawing on my experience as Head Girl, student representative, and NGO founder, I will gather feedback, mediate concerns, and promote inclusivity, engagement, and employability, fostering stronger student-faculty collaboration and a supportive, practical, and impactful learning environment.

As an ex-student rep, Economics Society President, and NGO founder, I bring leadership, advocacy, and problem-solving skills. I will gather feedback, communicate transparently, and work with staff to enhance support, inclusivity, and engagement—improving learning, employability, and well-being. Your voice will be my language.
I am a qualified primary teacher, having completed the PGCE with UCL. This experience has given me a strong understanding of current educational practices and how they can be applied to learning within our own courses. The program developed my work ethic and strengthened my passion for education, particularly around accessibility, inclusion, and ensuring that all students can thrive. I also bring strong communication and leadership skills, and experience collaborating with diverse groups of learners, which I believe will be valuable in representing and supporting our student body effectively.
I hope to strengthen representation and advocacy for our diverse community of students, by fostering an environment where inclusivity and awareness are built in the culture of our faculty. I would like to advocate for more training and discussion spaces that promote cultural competence and understanding. Further, many students seem hesitant to contribute when participation is invited. Introducing more structured opportunities for dialogue in seminars would benefit both students and professors, allowing for greater diversity of thought and deeper engagement with course content.
Students should vote for me because I bring a diverse range of experiences and a strong educational background grounded in real-world teaching practice. I am committed to driving meaningful, systemic change that benefits the entire UCL community. My values centre on inclusion, equity, and open dialogue, and I approach every role with empathy, professionalism, and accountability. I aim to be an approachable representative who listens actively, acts decisively, and ensures that every student’s voice is heard and valued.
I used to be the leader of art council and student art administration center in XJTLU during my undergraduate period for supporting the development of art clubs, supporting the art activities and assisting some administrative works of teachers in art center. I have rich experience in cooperating with other students, summarizing materials and ideas and express this ideas to staffs for possible better development. I am also good at communicating with people, managing administrative things and making meeting records.
I hope I could utilize the possible opportunity I have to help my cohort and the faculty I am studying in to be better. I hope I could use my ability to bridge the students and the staffs. If I could have this opportunity, I hope I could be a representative whom other students are willing to talk to and expressing their possible thoughts related to the study and academic interests with. I would try my best to express other students' academic interests, needs and suggestions as a representative.
I have the experience and ability in cooperating and communicating with other students, supporting the activities, making and summarizing ideas and the content of meetings, and expressing the thoughts with staffs. I believe I have the sufficient skills to be a bridge between my cohort and staffs for a better development of the institution I am studying in. I am friendly and welcome all kinds of opinions for the appropriate and positive purpose. If I could have this opportunity, I would try my best to express other students' academic interests, needs and suggestions as a representative.
I bring extensive experience in representing diverse needs through language teaching, translation, and AI training. My roles have honed my ability to listen carefully, analyse complex information (from linguistics to student feedback), and communicate it clearly and effectively to different audiences. As a translator, I’m skilled at being the crucial link between complex ideas and an audience’s understanding—a perfect parallel for bridging student voices and faculty decisions. My intercultural studies and teaching background ensure I advocate with cultural sensitivity and inclusivity.
My goal is to establish a highly responsive and transparent feedback loop. I will proactively gather concerns from Course Reps and the wider student body to identify key issues, such as bridging the gap between theory and practice in our courses or advocating for the inclusion of more diverse, global perspectives in our curricula. I aim to channel this collective voice into faculty committees to advocate for practical enhancements to the learning experience. My measure of success will be communicating back to students tangible positive changes fostered through our collaboration.
Vote for me to have a representative who is a dedicated communicator and a proven bridge-builder. My professional life is built on translating needs into understanding and action, whether for students, AI models, or intercultural audiences. I will not just listen to your academic concerns; I will analyse and articulate them effectively within faculty committees to drive meaningful improvements.
