I bring strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills from my roles as a UCL Student Ambassador, Welcome Presenter, and former Student Leader. I also assisted with the Faculty of Medical Sciences Challenge Day, working with staff and students to create an amazing, engaging event. I’m approachable, proactive, and passionate about making sure every student’s voice is heard and our experience keeps improving.
If elected, I’ll use student feedback to drive real improvements in teaching, assessments, and resources. I’d like to create more events that share insight into internships, networking, and volunteering opportunities, as well as social gatherings to build community. I also want to introduce peer-led mentoring sessions to help students share advice, build confidence, and feel supported throughout their studies. My goal is to make sure every student feels heard, supported, and connected within our department.
You should vote for me because I’m approachable, reliable, and always ready to listen. I understand how to balance academics with extracurricular activities and want to help others do the same. With experience across student roles and faculty events, I know how to turn ideas into action. I’ll work hard to make sure our voices are heard and that university life feels supportive, engaging, and fun.
- Past Academic Rep experience
- Past Student Curriculum Partner (a paid role where I collected data from fellow students for their opinions and views of one of our Year 2 modules. Findings were presented to a member of staff at a meeting, and a full report was also written up).
- Strong communication skills, organisation and attentiveness
- Empathy and understanding towards both students and faculty staff
- Eagerness to connect with other leaders, representatives and departments within and beyond the Faculty of Medical Sciences
- Making fellow students feel heard
- Understand staff perspectives
- Suggest realistic and implementable solutions to student queries, while being given the OK by staff
- Improve connection with different departments and fellow reps between and within faculties.
It would be an honour to represent my fellow students through being the Faculty of Medical Sciences Representative. I want each and every one of you to enjoy and get the most out of your UCL education; I promise to listen to all student perspectives, create regular forms and polls to keep me updated on various aspects of your academic journey (e.g research project options, future careers, learning formats, lecture times and locations, even the cold temperatures of the lecture halls during winter), which I will communicate to staff and let you know the outcomes to.
Having been the FMS rep for the past year, I was able to find better software alternatives for all of my fellow students, which WE didn't need to pay a fortune for. Replacing biorender with Bioart instead, which is free and better.
I have also sought out any problems which US fellow students may have, and solved them. I believe that no one should be left behind; everyone should be on the right track, therefore, I aim to provide support to any struggling fellow students. Because WE stand better all together!!!
I wish to bring more than just helping to save costs for YOU this year; I hope to help YOU make money through facilitating the collaboration between fellow students, professors and other departments to form inter-faculty projects, thereby boosting OUR skills and CVs, needed for OUR jobs, of course :) . This allows US to make a true work environment, which is what WE shall experience once WE all graduate and get into the field. I also shall maintain the regular duties which are as required by the FMS reps, seeking out for YOUR opinions, and problems. Helping US solve it together!!!
WE strive together! WE rise together! WE thrive together!
Through my past experience, the common goals WE share, and the vision WE desire to be built.
This is why YOU vote not for me, but for YOUR better future.
VOTE TAO ZEYUAN
As a current UCL student who was previously nominated for the Student Union President role, I bring experience in campaigning, listening to student concerns, and representing diverse viewpoints. That process strengthened my communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, while also showing me the importance of transparency and accountability. I am approachable, organised, and motivated to ensure the voices of Medical Sciences students are heard.
If elected, I want to create a stronger bridge between students and faculty by making feedback more accessible, visible, and acted upon. My priorities include improving clarity around teaching and assessments, advocating for more research and career opportunities, and ensuring wellbeing support is available to everyone in Medical Sciences. Ultimately, I want students to feel confident that their concerns are not only heard but also addressed with real solutions.
I am committed, approachable, and driven by the ambition to make Medical Sciences at UCL the best possible experience. Having previously run for a major student leadership role, I understand what it takes to represent a large community and to advocate for meaningful change. I will work hard to ensure every student has a voice, and that their concerns translate into improvements in our learning environment and wellbeing.
As your first-year rep, I am familiar with the faculty, including who and how to communicate with professors. Additionally, my role as a student ambassador gave me insight into the administrative and outreach aspects of the faculty. It allowed me to connect with students from other majors and year groups within our faculty. I believe these connections will be valuable for our year together. Most importantly, my strengths lie in my ability to observe, listen, and execute. These skills will not only ensure the needs of our cohort are heard but also that meaningful changes are made.
There are two aspects to uphold: informing and connecting. I will ensure AMS is informed about academic-related messages. In addition, I’ll share other helpful resources like UCL career talks, SU events, society activities, and UCLH charity. These will keep us connected to the broader medical community and relevant advancements. I will also maintain consistent communication with our professors and other academic representatives. Together, we can provide support, resources, and socials for you to enjoy. Most importantly, I will be here to listen and communicate with others to support you.
Your year with me as academic rep will be shaped by consistent communication and a strong focus on feedback. I’ll regularly check in through surveys and in-person conversations to understand your needs and concerns. Any issues raised won’t be delayed — I’ll actively push for changes that improve our experience, because making our year better is exactly what I’m here for. You’ll also hear more about opportunities to expand your academic knowledge and professional network — whether through events, talks, or other resources to support your growth.
As an Academic Rep last year, I saw the power of student feedback. Seeing the changes made in the meetings (such as clearer information about lecture locations, feedback and timetabling) showed me how rewarding this experience is, further sparking my interest to make more changes as Faculty Rep. My communication and leadership skills have developed further as a Transition Mentor, which I enjoy! My experience presenting lectures and being part of a Girls-In-Sport committee at school shows my genuine desire to promote change. If there's an opportunity to make something better, count me in!
I want to be a friendly face where students feel comfortable to give any feedback in the Faculty, be this from academic features such as lectures and timetables to social events and general wellbeing (as a member of yoga society, perhaps some yoga sessions could be organised as exam season approaches). Faculty wide events allow us to strengthen connections with each other and have some fun in our busy schedules. I would also like to promote smaller courses within the Faculty to ensure fair representation across all degrees, and advocate for more practical skills and lab spacing.
I am kind and approachable – 2 qualities essential in ensuring everyone feels comfortable providing feedback. I have great time management, which comes from always being a busy bee, such as swimming 12 hours a week at school, whilst taking 4 A-levels and an EPQ. Some of you may know me from Cancer Biomedicine or IMS, from Mully’s karaoke or yoga, or maybe you don’t know me at all and that’s ok! It just shows that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves, but every one of you has a voice, and that is crucial to remember. So, let me be the platform where your voice is heard.
