Pranati Mahajan (she/her)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I will bring strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills developed through my previous roles as a student representative and club head during my undergraduate degree. These experiences have equipped me to confidently voice student perspectives in committee settings and ensure that their concerns are translated into actionable outcomes. Additionally, I am approachable, proactive, and genuinely invested in fostering collaboration between students and faculty to enhance our educational experience.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected, I hope to strengthen communication between students and faculty, ensuring that student feedback leads to tangible improvements in teaching and research support. I want to create more spaces for open dialogue across programmes and enhance transparency around academic decisions. Ultimately, my goal is to make students feel genuinely heard and represented within the Faculty of Brain Sciences.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Students should vote for me because I’m committed to representing academic interests with transparency and action. Having experience liaising between students and faculty, I’ll ensure concerns are raised in committees and reflected in real outcomes. I will actively seek student input across programmes, communicate updates clearly, and promote collaboration between students, staff, and the Union to build a stronger Faculty of Brain Sciences. I aim to drive positive change in teaching, research support, and student engagement, ensuring every voice shapes our faculty’s development.

Lina Tabasaranskaia (She/ Her )
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Having faced mental health challenges during my studies and taking three years out before returning to achieve a First-Class Psychology degree, I understand first-hand how vital student representation and wellbeing support are. Overcoming three mental health disorders independently taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of compassion. These experiences shaped my passion for mental health advocacy and inclusion. As your representative, I will strive to ensure every student in the Faculty of Brain Sciences feels heard, supported, and empowered to reach their potential.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected, I aim to strengthen wellbeing support and communication between students and staff, ensuring every postgraduate feels understood, supported, and valued. I want to create a safe, inclusive space where students can speak openly about their challenges and access the right help without fear or stigma. I will advocate for greater mental health awareness, peer support initiatives, and collaboration within the Faculty of Brain Sciences, promoting an environment that empowers all students—academically, emotionally, and personally—to reach their full potential.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Students should vote for me because I know what it feels like to struggle and feel unseen within the university system. I’ve faced mental health challenges that forced me to pause my studies, and I understand first-hand how the system can sometimes fail to support those who need it most. Yet I came back stronger, completing my Psychology degree with First-Class Honours. I want to use that experience to make sure no student feels left behind—to create a community where everyone feels heard, supported, and empowered to succeed, no matter what they’re going through.
