What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
I am the current Treasurer of the Cheerleading Club, a position I undertook after a year spent on the committee as Merch & Sponsorship Secretary. My involvement was rewarded by a Commendation at the Sports Awards in June 2022.
As Treasurer this year, I worked hard to ensure that Cheerleading becomes more financially accessible. I am also involved in planning numerous talks about serious topics in university sports, such as body image or gender stereotypes.
Aside from my involvement in clubs, I know TeamUCL from the inside out, thanks to my current role as a Project Active Assistant.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
If elected, I plan to help grow TeamUCL to be a more inclusive place and safe space and to ensure all clubs are treated equally, whether they are BUCS or non-BUCS.
I know of some of the problems of running such a large community and intend to help solve them as much as my position will allow. This includes but is not limited to helping set up and run the large TeamUCL campaigns and events such as Pride in TeamUCL and Varsity.
Finally, I will have an open ear and raise any issue toughening the accessibility of sports at UCL.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.
I have been involved in all of the large-scale TeamUCL events last year and am keen on helping continue their success and reimplement big Mandy Walker Games in 2023.
Being on the core committee of one of the largest non-BUCS clubs at UCL and working for Project Active taught me a lot about how UCL sports are run and some of the problems that are still standing. I genuinely care about fixing these to ensure that the sports we practice actually help us destress.
I will do everything possible to improve inclusivity at TeamUCL and equity between sports clubs.
