If elected, my top priorities will be:
Trans rights: pressuring UCL to rejoin Stonewall, to improve access to trans-affirmative student support and the campus infrastructure (e.g. gender neutral toilets)
Queer mental health: campaigning for better, LGBTQ-specific training for student support staff;
Student engagement: organizing regular townhalls to make sure the Network is representing your best interest;
Direct action: building a library of resources for students who want to lead their own campaigns;
Intersectional solidarity: closer cooperation with other SU student networks.
I am an experienced student organiser, having been at the forefront of many campaigns last year, such as Rejoin Stonewall and UCU strikes student support. I was also elected as the Women’s Rep for this Network last year, so I have direct experience representing my fellow UCL queers. Over my two years at UCL, I’ve held a variety of other representative roles, such as Course Rep or LGBTQ+ Rep in my departmental EDI Committee, making sure that student voices are heard. In short, I am a committed and energetic activist with a lot of experience in standing up for students’ rights.
I am a dedicated activist with a lot of experience in student organising at UCL campus. The unique experience of having been at the forefront of the campaign to rejoin Stonewall as a Rep on the Network last academic year makes me perfectly suitable to carry on the legacy of the Network being a firm and loud voice of the queer students at UCL. With your vote, I will continue fighting against queerphobia and transphobia at UCL while also making sure that the Network is transparent in the way it represents UCL’s LGBTQ+ students. Together we can make true change at UCL happen:)
