What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My primary goal is to focus on maintaining approachability for all the tenants of the hall. Making sure that I understand the wishes, complaints, and various issues that hall residents have is the most important step in reaching and upholding a high standard of living. The role is one as a hall representative -- and that means knowing, very well, the student that I represent and what they truly want.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Back home in Canada, I have worked in management positions at various jobs. Part of my duties included negotiating with other managers and representing the workers in management meetings. I have years of experience listening to the issues of others, and advocating for solutions to higher-ups (while maintaining anonymity and professionalism in order to protect my workers). Moreover, I have also been part of several university conferences and editing boards, so I also have some slight experience in university meetings!

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Students should vote for me because my main focus is to hear and represent their interests. In fact, I welcome students to, beginning now, email me at [email protected] if they have any questions or concerns -- I am always happy to hear them. Even though elections are yet to occur, my desire to advocate for you starts now.

Lucas A H Dastros-Pitei
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

As John Adams and Endsleigh Gardens hall rep I will strive to be a platform for my fellow hall mates to voice their problems and concerns. In particular the speed at which their maintenance and general queries are processed and solved. I also hope to be a friendly face for my hallmates to deal with their accommodation and study frustrations in a timely way. Furthermore, I fully understand the importance of mental health and I hope to look out for isolated students or those dealing with problems and help steer them in the right way to gain support and feel included in the John Adams community.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

My experience as a marine cadet, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and navigating through harsh obstacles, enabled me to learn valuable leadership, communication and teamwork skills which will be indispensable to this role. Furthermore, I believe I am patient and open, finding it easy to discuss sensitive and daily topics due to my experience as a waiter in a gastro-pub and my archival role in St James Place handling highly confidential documents. I also believe I can help create a strong John Adam's community as I wish to know everyone in my halls and provide a platform.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

My hallmates should vote for me as I am extremely open and patient, willing to help out in any given situation, ranging from maintenance to mental health issues, and I want to create a strong sense of community both in John Adams and UCL.
