What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to ensure that the residents' voices and concerns are heard. Bernard Johnson House is unique student accommodation for mostly mature international students and their families. I hope I can help to create a supportive environment for the students by advocating their issues and suggestions, promoting a sense of a close-knit community, and working together with the hall team to help the residents make the most out of their time living in Bernard Johnson House.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I am a fourth-year PhD student and have been living in Bernard Johnson for three years which gave me the experience to navigate the challenges of moving abroad, being far from our beloved ones, and studying as a parent. I was a UCL student accommodation ambassador for two years and was assigned to assist the new students in moving and adapting to their new accommodations. I was involved in UCL flourish online activities to help the students dealing with loneliness and difficulties during the lockdown period.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am always happy to help my fellow students because, as an international student parent myself, I know how challenging life can be with studying abroad and raising a family. I received much support from the previous hall team, and I hope I can pay it forward by doing the same for the new residents. With my experiences and training, I will do my best to represent our ideas, concerns, and suggestions.
