Hey there, it’s Clio:) your trustworthy candidate for Outreach Officer of Women in Finance Society.
I’m currently studying German and History of Art. Despite my humanities background, I have strong experience in network building, community engagement, and communication.
I have worked in the art market, participated with galleries, curatorial projects, and art fairs. Through these experiences, I developed skills in building professional networks, organising events, and engaging with external partners, particularly in outreach with industry connections.
Finance can often feel inaccessible to students who do not come from traditional economics or finance backgrounds. This can be especially true for women studying humanities or social sciences, who may feel that the industry is not designed for them.
As Outreach Officer, my goal is to expand the reach of Women in Finance Society, ensuring that more women from diverse academic backgrounds feel encouraged to explore opportunities in finance and gain access to the networks that support those careers.
I’m also excited to work alongside President candidate Christina, helping to build a more organised structure of events that strengthens members’ skills in finance, including technical, soft, and behavioural skills, supports women in preparing to break into the finance industry with confidence.
I am applying for this position as I am passionate about building meaningful partnerships and strengthening the society’s external presence. Women in finance society is a network which can that can open doors and connect young women to the industry in a meaningful way. Being a part of the GAIN (Girls are Investors) network for 2 years and attending their events has shown me first-hand how strong networks with experienced women can translate into real opportunities. I would love to bring that same level of initiative and ambition to Women in Finance at UCL by expanding corporate relationships and strengthening alumni connections. Through creating and writing in my blog on gender inequality, I’ve explored in depth how structural biases and unequal access to opportunity continue to shape career progression — particularly in competitive industries like the financial sector. Strong outreach can help bridge that gap by connecting members with female role models and inclusive employers who are actively trying to change the industry and I believe I have the skillset to be able to do this. Additionally, I am personally motivated to pursue a career in investment banking, which further drives my commitment to challenging gender disparities and contributing to greater female representation within the industry.
The most challenging yet most rewarding part of my previous role in external relations at FEP Finance Club was building relationships from scratch: cold outreach to professionals, persuading people to give their time and making our society credible enough that people wanted to be involved. That experience shaped how I think about outreach: it has to be personal, persistent and purposeful.
I'm standing for Head of Relations & Outreach because I want to apply that mindset to Women in Finance. We have an incredible member base at one of the world's top universities, but our impact depends on the quality of relationships we build with industry. I want to develop a proactive outreach strategy targeting professionals across finance, creating touchpoints that feel genuine rather than transactional.
My background securing guest speakers and coordinating firm visits has given me a practical understanding of what makes outreach land. I've seen the impact firsthand: a speaker connection through Women in Finance led me to the GAIN UK programme, a women's mentorship and investment management education programme that has been one of the most valuable experiences of my time at university. That ripple effect is exactly what great outreach creates, and I want every member to have access to opportunities like that.
Ultimately, I want every member to feel that Women in Finance gives them a real edge in recruiting, and that starts with the relationships we build at the top
I am standing to be the head of Relations and Outreach because I am passionate about the Finance industry, but equally I am passionate about forming a community and building a network within the university. I believe as a woman it is hard to be taken seriously and know your worth and sometimes I think feeling like a part of something bigger brings the support each girl needs entering this industry.
I am very much a people’s person, I really enjoy reaching out to different groups of people and connecting everyone together. In this role, I would dedicate my focus mainly to strengthening relationships with firms , alumni, sponsors and organisations to create opportunities for our community. Back at school I was part of something similar, where I founded Finance society. My school was all girls, and we were able to reach out to some of the largest companies worldwide, such as, McKinsey to invite speakers to come and share their expertise. We also were able to reach out to some more niche firms, such as, Dawn Capital which focused on venture capital and Private Equity. I would like to transfer these skills to this position.
I am organised, proactive and confident communicating with professionals. I enjoy building a network and committed to presenting Women in Finance as a professional, ambitious and supportive society.
Mostly what I care about is the impact. I want every member to feel that part of Women in Finance gives them access, confidence and opportunity.
Hi everyone! I’m Amy, a second year BSc Medical Innovation and Enterprise student. I was previously a First-Year Representative for WinF and currently Vice- President over the past two academic years, I’ve worked closely with the executive team and helped deliver the Share the Vision event, seeing firsthand how this society empowers women to break barriers in an information- gap industry. As well as hosting society events. This gave me a perspective into relations and outreach.
My experiences interning in commercial services, consulting, and marketing as well as attending various networking events taught me how to nurture relationships and find opportunities for the society. I’ve also have experience being a mentee and understand what mentees need from the mentorship program. I also strive to help the committee in their search for high impact speakers/ workshop leaders expanding the society’s influence. Above all, I’m approachable, passionate, and eager to open new doors for members into the industry.
If elected, I’ll ensure that every member feels confident and supported to reach their full potential. And the society maintains/ gains new relationships within the industry.
I’m standing for Head of Relations and Outreach because I genuinely enjoy connecting with people, and I’d love to help strengthen the society’s external presence while building meaningful partnerships that benefit our members.
Through teaching piano, I’ve developed strong interpersonal and professional communication skills. Regularly liaising with parents has taught me how important clarity, reliability, and approachability are — especially when organising a recital for 30 students and coordinating across multiple families. Alongside this, attending numerous Bright Network events and completing the Finance Internship Experience UK has helped me grow in confidence when networking with industry professionals. I’ve learned how valuable preparation, engagement, and thoughtful follow-up are in building relationships that last beyond a single conversation.
If elected, I would take a proactive but personable approach to outreach — identifying organisations aligned with our values, maintaining strong and friendly communication with sponsors and speakers, and ensuring the society is represented with professionalism and warmth. I would also prioritise clear internal communication so members feel informed and connected to the opportunities around them.
I’d approach the role with enthusiasm, initiative, and a strong commitment to building relationships that help our community grow.
My goal is to make relations & outreach at WinF feel accessible, practical & genuinely engaging.
I will:
Develop tiered partnerships––distinguishing headline sponsors, skill partners & mentorship partners → give firms clearer value and members more structured opportunities.
Move beyond one-off panels by introducing small-group networking dinners and skill-based workshops with partner firms, creating deeper interaction rather than surface-level Q&A.
Launch a “WIF Industry Insight Series” spotlighting niche roles (ESG, fintech, private credit, quant research) so members see paths beyond traditional investment banking.
Create collaborative flagship events across the UCL Guild network to position WinF as a leading voice in finance societies.
Finance can feel exclusive. Our outreach should make it accessible, visible and empowering.
As an Outreach Officer within another society, I manage external correspondence, partnerships & follow-ups with speakers. I have built NGO collaborations, raised funds, interviewed professionals & led international initiatives — strengthening my negotiation, organisation & relationship-building skills.
I'm reliable, detail-oriented with consistent priorities: to help WinF expand its impact combining structure with approachability.
I care about building meaningful access— not just impressive logos, but real opportunities.
If you want outreach that elevates Women in Finance’s reputation while making networking feel empowering > overwhelming, support me!
Hi everyone, I’m Minh! 👋
If WiF had a "Loyalty Card," I’d have a lifetime supply of coffee - I’ve been front row at our events all year! ☕️ It’s a joy to learn alongside such ambitious women. Pick me because I’m built for the "Outreach Grind." Need speakers? I’m the girl who will send 100 cold emails a day until the best in business are on our stage. 📧🔥
Why Minh? 💼
- Bridge Builder: As Head of Outreach for UCL Street Aid, I managed NGO and corporate partnerships. Nurturing bonds is what I do best! 🤝
- Finance Pulse: I study Management Science with two PE internships. I know how to "sell" our society’s incredible talent to top firms. 📊
- People Person: I love numbers, but people inspire me more. The strongest "ROI" in finance comes from our connections. You are ours highest priority! 💗
My Vision 🌟
Meeting Estia Ryan (Principal, Eka Ventures) taught me that "financial beauty lies in connecting ambitious people to opportunities." My mission: to turn our society into a powerhouse of high-level connections. 🌍
When you vote for me, you’re picking a friend who supports your dreams as much as her own. 🤝❤️ Let’s build a future where every woman and man in this society has a seat at the table.
Shall we onboard together? >:D 🚢✨
Having spent time cold outreaching to professionals across the industry on my own initiative, I’ve seen how important and daunting building a network can be, especially at the start with no connections. Reaching out, finding the right people, and maintaining relationships is something I’ve been doing for myself, and I want to use that to create opportunities for other WinF members.
Alongside maintaining our existing relationships with firms, I would also work to continue expanding the WinF network.
I also care strongly about peer mentorship. Formal events with senior professionals are valuable, but there are questions students won’t ask in that setting, such as how to prepare for an assessment centre, navigate certain environments, or where to start developing skills. Those conversations often happen with someone just a year or two ahead. I want to create more opportunities for WinF students to connect with those who have recently completed spring weeks, internships, graduated and entered the industry.
I’m standing because the role fits the way I already work, and because I want to help build the kind of network I’ve been trying to create for myself, but for everyone in WinF.
Women in Finance has built a welcoming space where members can learn about the industry, gain confidence, and support one another, and I would love to help strengthen that environment by expanding the range of opportunities available.
Through my studies in mathematics, economics and management as a BASc Arts and Sciences student alongside my internship experience working in finance and accounts, I’ve become increasingly interested in financial markets and corporate strategy. In what is still a largely male-dominated industry, I know how valuable it is to hear directly from other women already working in the industry. Building relationships with professionals and alumni can make a real difference in helping young women understand the many possible paths within finance.
I have also managed sponsorship and outreach in a previous leadership role for a student-led initiative, where I gained experience communicating with external partners and coordinating opportunities for collaboration. As Head of Relations & Outreach, I would aim to build strong relationships with firms, professionals, and alumni while keeping the society approachable and inclusive for members who are just starting to explore finance.
Ultimately, I’m standing for this role because I hope to ensure that outreach creates real opportunities for members while maintaining the supportive and friendly community that makes WinF such a valuable society at UCL.
I’m putting myself forward for Head of Events and Outreach as I really want to make good, worthwhile events for people in the Women in Finance Society. Being a first-year rep for the society has shown me how much it does, and I want to do more: to directly help with the events, in their design and when they’re happening. Because I study Biochemical Engineering, I’m well organised, notice things, and can manage projects, all of which are useful when putting on events. I can contact people who could come and speak, so events go well and are a success. I will work with the committee, members and visitors to be certain events are well-arranged and fun. I’m keen, get things going, and want to become a better leader; I want to help the Women in Finance Society carry on doing well.
This year I served as Relations & Outreach Executive, which gave me a great insight into how important partnerships are for the Women in Finance Society. Even from that position, it became very clear to me that outreach is one of the areas where our society has huge potential to grow. London is one of the world’s leading financial centres, and there are so many opportunities, organisations, and events focused on supporting women in finance. That’s why I’d love to step into the role of Head of Outreach & Relations.
Over the past year I’ve really enjoyed being involved in the society and attending many of the events. What stood out to me most is how valuable it is when members get the chance to interact directly with professionals and organisations in the industry. Those connections make finance feel much more accessible and real.
If elected, I would focus on three priorities.
- First, expanding partnerships with firms and professionals to organise more speaker events, networking opportunities, and office visits.
- Second, connecting members to the wider finance ecosystem in London by organising group attendance at women-focused conferences, panels, and networking events.
- Third, building longer-term partnerships with organisations that support women entering finance, so the society becomes a recognised partner for these initiatives.
My goal is to ensure Women in Finance members benefit not only from a supportive community at UCL, but also from the wider opportunities across London.
