Danielle Amouzou-Akue

I would really love to be head of events for UCL WinF

  • I’m looking forward to managing events at a range of budgets for the benefit of our members
  • I have experience - helped with hands-on tasks and easing the mental load for two family friends’ birthday parties with around 150 guests each at two different hotels, costing a youth group summer social, getting volunteers for my school’s competitive universities day and as a volunteer at school open days giving tours, doing experiments and helping to ensure prospective students and parents were in the right place at the right time
  • I have the skills, leadership, communication and problem solving under pressure; honed through my work as a UCL Faculty A&H Student Ambassador
Josephine Butters

Having spent time reaching out to professionals across the industry on my own and after events, I’ve seen how important and daunting building a network and entering finance can be, especially when starting with no connections. That experience is a key reason I’m motivated to run for Head of Events. I understand the difference the right room, people, and event format can make.

As Head of Events, I want to maintain the high standard WinF already delivers while thinking carefully about the member experience, the opportunities they gain, and the connections they build. A panel with a senior professional is valuable, but only if the event structure gives members the confidence and space to engage.

I’m also motivated to strengthen peer-led initiatives alongside the formal programme. Some of the most valuable advice comes from those just a step ahead, students who have recently completed spring weeks, internships, or graduated and entered the industry. I want to create a structure between connecting students with other students or alumni, to encourage mentor-mentee-ship.

Ultimately, I’m running because I care about making WinF events the kind that members leave feeling that the event was worth it, not just another talk attended, but an event that catalyses your next step.

I am nominating myself for this position because I am passionate about creating meaningful, engaging experiences that empower women pursuing careers in finance. I have had examples of males in this industry but personally had not known a successful female role model. I have gone through numerous obstacles to reach a point where I can break into the industry over the last few years. This is the reason I would like to become a part of the committee.

I’m still discovering my path in finance, so I have experienced how valuable it is to attend events such as ‘Share the Vision’ conference. It provided insight by speaking with successful women in various areas within finance in my first year. I want to make events further accessible by collaborating with the committee to expand professional connections with alumni and firms. I am particularly motivated to curate a diverse range of events, from technical workshops and employer panels to networking evenings, that cater to different interests and stages within finance.

Networking, mentorship, and access to opportunities can make a huge difference in helping women succeed in the finance industry. I am eager to strengthen our partnerships and expand our event portfolio to ensure they provide real value to our members.

I believe I am the right fit for the role because I combine strong organisational skills with a genuine enthusiasm for bringing people together.

As a woman of colour exploring a career in finance, I know how valuable this society can be - both personally and professionally! As a head of events, I want this society to be more than just career chats, I want to focus on creating events that empower us to be more confident within this industry and to host events which give raw insights about being a woman in finance. As head of events, I want to leverage my precious background in leadership to focus on bringing in speakers and mentors who reflect the diversity we need to see in the industry, and creating networking opportunities that help members build genuine confidence and connections. I’m committed to making this society a space where every woman feels she belongs and can actually progress her career!

Nandini Dasgupta

I’m standing for Head of Events because I’ve seen how powerful the right events can be, and I’d love to help create opportunities that genuinely support and empower our members.

As someone currently applying for finance internships, I really value the role Women in Finance plays in making the industry feel more accessible. Attending numerous Bright Network events and completing the Finance Internship Experience UK has given me insight into what makes a panel or workshop truly useful — clear themes, engaging speakers, strong moderation, and space for meaningful interaction rather than just passive listening. I’d love to bring that perspective into shaping our events.

Alongside this, I bring strong organisational experience. I have three years of teaching experience and organised a recital for 30 students, coordinating logistics, scheduling, and communications to ensure everything ran smoothly. Balancing this with a Chemistry degree has strengthened my time management, attention to detail, and ability to stay calm under pressure.

If elected, I would take a thoughtful and strategic approach to the events calendar — ensuring a balance of technical workshops, career-stage specific sessions, and interactive networking opportunities. Most importantly, I’d focus on creating events that feel welcoming, professional, and genuinely valuable.

I want every event we run to leave members feeling more confident, more informed, and more connected than when they walked in.

Sara Jangam

I'm Sara Jangam, a second-year Management Science student, and I want to turn my network into our network

Through my job at Mello Investor Events, I've built connections with investors, fund managers, and bankers. As Head of Events, I'd use them to create real opportunities for women in finance. Here is my vision for WinF Society:

Weekly Webinars with fund managers teaching us how to build and pitch real funds. This leads into a Fund-Pitch Challenge judged by industry professionals. The prize? Not just typical cash prizes, but winners also receiving free tickets to exclusive investment conferences featuring world-famous speakers. It's about getting women in finance into the rooms where real conversations happen.

Finance, Fashion & Purpose: I want to continue my work with Smart Works (a charity supporting women re-entering the workplace) through styling workshops, clothing drives, and volunteer days. As we break into finance, I believe we should be lifting other women up too.

Socials: As Social Executive for the School of Management Society, I've organised pilates, pub night, and musical night socials. I'll bring that energy to WinF, with relaxed networking brunches and socials where we connect without formal pressure.

Vote me for Head of Events: I have the contacts, experience, and drive to make this year's calendar career-defining and fun

Aya Bou Sraih

Hi, I’m Aya, and I’m running for Head of Events at Women in Finance because I want to create events that give members direct exposure to the financial industry while building a supportive professional network at UCL.

My experience across finance, research, and student leadership has given me both the analytical background and the organizational skills needed to plan meaningful events.

Private Equity & Financial Analysis Internships (Doha) – Conducted DCF analysis, revenue modeling, and KPI analysis for large-scale projects, including work connected to FIFA World Cup infrastructure. This experience strengthened my understanding of corporate finance and investment decision-making.

Global Sustainability Finance Project, Texas A&M – Helped lead financial analysis for an AI climate initiative and contributed to securing $50,000 in funding, giving me experience presenting financial insights to stakeholders.

External Relations, UCL Fashion Business Society – Secured high-profile speakers including representatives from Vogue and coordinated industry partnerships and events, gaining practical experience in outreach and speaker management.

As Head of Events, I want to organize speaker series, technical finance workshops, and networking events with professionals across investment banking, private equity, fintech, and venture capital, helping Women in Finance members gain real insight into the industry while building valuable connections.
