Oryna Nyzovets

The doors are closing

The next station is ucl.ua 6.0, full of even more exciting opportunities!

I'm Oryna and I'm running for President of UCL Ukrainian Society. I have already contributed to the development of ucl.ua as a Social Secretary by taking part in the launch of Ukrainian Language classes and helping organise events throughout the year.

Now I want to take the society further. My vision is to reflect versatility of our community through future events.

I plan to conduct:

Panel talks with representatives of finance, entertainment, technology and many different industries

Creative workshops to take a deep dive into Ukrainian culture and art

Business nights with opportunities of gaining valuable insights from successful Ukrainian CEOs

Events for you to dress up and dance the night away, while surrounded by your favourite people

Unforgettable socials, karaoke and interactive quizzes

I will also:

Constantly keep an eye on prominent people visiting London and invite those, who you will express the most interest in seeing!

Collaborate with various UCL societies and Ukrainian communities of London universities to keep building connections we already established this year

It is an honour for me to lead a society of such incredible people and showcase Ukrainian culture on this level.

Vote me for the President and fasten your seatbelts because we're about to set off. A year of opportunities is coming…

Your Oryna

Bohdan Dunets

UCL.ua is a society that can make us hear “свій/своя” – and feel it. A society where everything – like at home. A society where we can speak our language.

It is a society I want to serve as President.

In my first year at UCL, I was helping UCL.ua make events, evenings and nights happen, doing the work that matters: meeting guests at the door, making sure new faces don’t stand alone, and keeping everything moving so the room feels warm. I’ve seen what works when we do it right – when we do it Ukrainian way: quality delivered, and people satisfied.

For me, this is personal. I’m from Lviv – cultural capital of Ukraine. My family is still there, living the reality of war, like many of ours. Being here means responsibility. The President’s role is exactly that: to represent Ukraine with dignity here in London and inside UCL – and to make people back home proud of our actions.

This year’s work set a strong standard – I’ve seen it up close. My responsibility now is not to “keep it the same”, but to take it higher, in the way my predecessors would expect.

More moments that feel like home: Ukrainian dinners, Mafia nights, signature balls. More substance: talks with diplomats, founders and leaders; stronger networking; Ukrainian language classes. And more visibility: ambitious joint events with 30+ societies across London.

Ukrainian Society should be seen, heard, and respected.

And that – starts with people.

I care about people. I want people be happy. And – I get things done.
