Giorgia Vernacchia

I joined Street Aid in first year and really enjoyed it. This year, being on the committee, I’ve come to appreciate it even more. Street Aid allows me to dedicate my time to helping others, and as a Global Humanitarian Studies student, it feels like my way of giving aid in a practical and immediate way.Homelessness is such a significant issue in London, and while as students we may not be able to solve it, Street Aid gives us the opportunity to contribute in small but meaningful ways, whether that’s handing out hot drinks, offering extra layers of warmth, or simply showing people that others care. As Welfare Officer this year, I’ve been lucky to work with such kind co-committee members and meet so many people who come along to outreaches. That sense of community is what makes Street Aid special.

That’s why I’m standing for Vice President. I want to continue being part of this society throughout my time at UCL, and I’d love the chance to help support and grow something that already means so much to me.

Rivi Cohen

Hi! My name is Rivi, and I’m super excited to be applying to the position of Events Secretary for Street Aid Society! I have really enjoyed the last year in Street Aid, and would love to be able to play a bigger role and give back to the society.

I believe I am a strong candidate for the position of Events Secretary because I have experience with and absolutely love planning events. At my sixth form college, I almost single-handedly organised a sustainable fashion show with external speakers and student performances, and I am always people’s go-to when they need help planning a party or another event! Because of this, I think that I could bring value to Street Aid Society through this position.

I would be dedicated to the position, as I am passionate about the need for support for homeless people in London. I have felt most beneficial for the homeless communities in London through my participation in Street Aid Society, and want to continue to contribute to it, as well as encouraging other people to be passionate about the importance of supporting our homeless communities through organising events.

Thank you for your support, and I hope that you vote for me for Street Aid Society’s Events Secretary! :)

What draws me to the society is its mission to help people experiencing homelessness in a way that is practical and personal. I want to be a part of a society that actively involves itself in this issue.

I want to be Event Secretary of the Street Aid Society because events are the backbone of society outreach and fundraising efforts. I want to help shape these events that make the members feel like they are part of something larger than themselves while also making sure every event contributes to the society's mission. This Society also offers me an opportunity for me to immerse myself in a community where people share a sense of purpose, in an environment where I can be inspired by passionate people and hopefully inspire them in return.

I chose Event Secretary specifically because not only do I have a background in both volunteering and event planning, which helps me understand the logistics and communication involved in running an event. I believe I can handle the responsibility of running an event smoothly. But most importantly because of how valuable those experiences have been for me.

I'm looking forward to be involved with street aid next year whether as part of the committee or a member
