Marguerite Pickford

Hi everyone, hopefully you recognise my face :) I'm currently in my 3rd year as full time RAX enthusiast and part-time German and Latin student and though my dedication has been somewhat limited by my year abroad ( but I didn't miss BUCS cross-country!) I would love to be your welfare officer 2026-2027!

Running brings me joy, not every run, no, but it has an ability to motivate me and clear my mind and running with others is that - times 100. I guess I have to admit – I’m addicted to it.

But you can't ignore its darker side.  Noticing when you’re too injured to train, when you need a break, when today isn't the day is always difficult. In the past, I have struggled with issues eating and low mood, I did run, yes but it wasn't the solution. It’s crucial to notice when you need help - just a chat or if it’s serious – professional help.

As your welfare officer, I want to offer support, whether people are struggling physically or mentally, that RAX is a place not just to run but also to talk and socialize. A problem shared is a problem halved :)

My aims:

  • Host a weekly coffee session for nattering and chilling
  • Offer a session a week for one on ones to signpost people to where they can get the support they need.
  • Continue organizing talks on important issues such as RED-S

Ever since I joined as a nervous fresher, RAX has been a place where I’ve run but most of all had fun and I want to give that to others too, to support people in the same way. I would be honoured to have your vote!

I am standing for the position of Welfare Officer because I care about making our club a place where everyone feels supported, included and confident - whether they are chasing their PB or just building up the courage to turn up to their first session.

Running can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be physically and mentally challenging. I believe welfare is not just about responding when something goes wrong but instead building a supportive base where students feel confident to speak up, ask for help and to be themselves. A strong welfare culture helps every member thrive.

If elected, I would focus on three key objectives - visibility, approachability and action. I want members to know clearly what support is available and how to access it. I would be approachable and proactive, checking in regularly and ensuring new and existing members feel welcomed from day one. I would also work closely with the committee to promote safe training cultures, balanced expectations and a positive team culture.

Running club should be competitive, social and fun - but above all, it should be safe and supportive. I would take the responsibility of welfare officer seriously, listen without judgement and advocate for any member who needs support.

I am standing because I care about this club and the people in it, I want to make sure every member feels valued, heard and able to enjoy running in a healthy and positive environment.

Hiya, I’m Lea! I would like to nominate myself for the position of Welfare Officer because running has always been an important part of how I look after my own wellbeing. As Welfare Officer, my priority would be to make sure every member feels supported, included, and cared for. I want to help ensure that RAX remains a safe, welcoming space where people can decompress, socialise with others, and enjoy running as a break from the stresses of university, assignments, and life in general.
