I'm running for Real Estate Society Welfare Officer because I want our society to feel like a genuinely supportive community rather than merely hosting a series of networking events without bridging students between education and the corporate world. Through competing in the CUREFIS and applying for the ULI Hines Real Estate Competition, I've seen how growth happens when people work in a team environment, ultimately building confidence and strategic thinking skills, and tackling pressure as a team, which is highly relevant in students' future careers in real estate. The competition is also a proof that that “welfare” isn’t separate from success: teams perform better when everyone feels included, supported, and able to contribute.
My ambition in this role is to turn those experiences into more opportunities for more students. I want to lower the barrier to getting involved in competitions and industry-facing projects by making the process clearer, more welcoming and accessible, especially for first-years or anyone who feels behind. This could imply hosting short real estate “competition taster” sessions, pairing new members with experienced mentors, and building small project teams that mix different skill levels so nobody feels left out. I’d also focus on feedback-driven welfare like regular check-ins and anonymous suggestions, so everyone has a place in the society. Ultimately, I want students to leave feeling they gained both opportunities and a stronger support network.
