I am running for Polo Club President because polo has shaped who I am today, and I want to strengthen and expand UCL Polo for all players.

I started playing at 11 with only basic riding experience and little understanding of how complex the sport truly was. I remember feeling completely out of my depth trying to balance the reins and mallet, missing the ball more often than I’d like to admit. What kept me going was passion and the support of more experienced players who guided me. Through hours of practice and competition I gradually improved, and that journey has shaped my approach to the sport.

If elected, I would focus on both excellence and expansion. I want to strengthen UCL Polo’s international presence by organising tours, inter-university fixtures and international competitions. Polo is a global sport, and building relationships with clubs abroad would expose members to higher standards and valuable connections while strengthening UCL Polo’s reputation. I am also committed to making the society more approachable as I know the sport can seem intimidating from the outside. I want to break down these barriers through beginner pathways, mentorship between experienced and new players, and accessible taster sessions. Increasing participation will strengthen our teams and the society.

Alongside this, I want to be a president that you can approach and if you have any issues polo or otherwise just know that you can rely on my constant support and custodianship of the club.

Two years ago I started UCL Polo because I genuinely love the sport and the community around it. I wanted to build something that gave other students the chance to try it, regardless of background or experience.

In the last two years we have:

• 38 active playing members (majority beginners)

• Structured weekly training across all ability levels

• Multiple SUPA entries with 4th place National finishes

• Founded London Varsity (12–5.5 Winter win)

• Elite & international fixtures incl. JP. Morgan, Eton, Army & French Nationals

• Featured twice in Polo Times

• Secured SU funding and external sponsorship

Next year I will:

• Run regular internal chukka days open to all

• Guarantee at least three beginner-focused competitive opportunity per term

•Collaborate with Team UCL to run weekly S&C sessions

• Reinvest sponsorship and SU funding into access and development to reduce financial pressure

• Target a SUPA podium finish while maintaining inclusive access

• Strengthen committee delegation to secure long-term stability

• Expand socials through a greater range of events and more consistent weekly socials

• Strengthen inter-university and London club social calendar

Everything we’ve built so far, from lessons and fixtures to dinners and international tournaments, has had one aim: to create real opportunities for students to get involved, compete, socialise and feel part of something.

That’s why I founded the club and why I want to continue leading it next year.
