Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I think the main reason would be my love for QTPOC. It is such a cherished society where people can truly feel themselves. I have felt like an outsider in both ACS and LGBTQ+ UCL-run events, and this society is a place of solace for many people like me. I would be more than happy with any role that helps to keep this society thriving.

I believe that students are not voting for a specific person but voting to keep the society alive!

Creating Spaces of Belonging and Joy
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I aim to continue and build upon the principles set up by the founding members of the QTPOC. I would like to ensure creation of spaces in the form of multiple events that would be welcoming and help people feel belonging and joy by following the philosophy of community, creativity and compassion. I believe that by bringing such spaces to people they would be able to self express and interact positively with others within the community leading to a more positive community. I also believe that belonging, self expression and positive interaction can marvellously contribute to wellbeing and growth

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As an Indian, Muslim, vegetarian and queer person- I have lived experiences of what we term as intersectionality. I have experienced how it feels to not have a space where you can be yourself, where you are just accepted and feel like home. And, I have also experienced how it feels to have these things. When I was a part of the organising committee for a pre-pride event, I realised that I loved working with people, who gave me space to be myself. I learnt community building, content writing, listening, personal communication and practicing empathy when here. I hope to bring these with me.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Two central themes are very close to me: transformation and equity, and they are especially connected to the QTPOC. I believe that creation of spaces, where people feel welcome and belonged would lead to them feeling their own inner joy and love, leading in turn to self actualisation. As a professional tutor, specialising in creating such spaces where students explore who they are, find belonging and identity, I think I am 'right' for this position. Furthermore, as equity is so close to my heart, I think I have good energy when it comes to the delivery of events that centre around equity.

Lulu Alabbad (she/her)
Visibility. Accountability. Community.
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I want to ensure QTPOC students at UCL feel seen, safe, supported, and included.

I want to initiate QTPOC-led spaces for students to feel safe and not tokenised. The goal is to have QTPOC-led socials, discussion circles, and creative events and have lived representation rather than symbolic.

Second, I want to push for clearer reporting pathways and accountability around racism and homo/transphobia, especially where they intersect. The reporting process is complicated, making people reluctant to report.

This role shouldn’t just respond to issues. It should actively build power, joy, & solidarity.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I bring organisation, reliability, and strong advocacy skills. I’ve worked across different groups, so I know how to coordinate events, communicate clearly, and follow through on commitments. I’m confident raising concerns in institutional spaces and pushing for real accountability. Most importantly, I lead with empathy. QTPOC students navigate layered challenges, and I take that seriously. I listen carefully, act thoughtfully, and prioritise collective wellbeing over visibility or personal credit.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Vote for me because I will show up, listen, and act. I’m committed to building real QTPOC community at UCL, and not just symbolic representation, but safer spaces, clearer accountability, and visible celebration of our voices. I’m organised, reliable, and confident advocating within institutional systems. Most importantly, I care about collective wellbeing. I want QTPOC students to feel supported, protected, and empowered and I'm commited to working consistently to make that a reality.
