Kitan Disu

Joining university can feel like a big shift. It is exciting, but also a little overwhelming. Like many of us, I arrived unsure of where I would feel most comfortable being myself. That uncertainty led me to a Nigerian Society event in my first week, and there I met incredibly kind and genuine people, some of whom are now my closest friends at UCL.

What makes Nigerian Society special is that it is not just for Nigerians. It is for people who resonate with the culture, whether through heritage, food, music, or a genuine desire to learn more. It is a space where people feel welcomed and understood from day one.

This society transformed my start at UCL. It gave me community, comfort, and confidence. As President, I would ensure that every new member has the opportunity to feel that same sense of belonging.

My main goal as President would be to strengthen outreach so that more people who resonate with Nigerian culture know this space exists. There are so many students at UCL who would love this community but have not yet found it. By prioritising promotion, we can bridge that gap and allow this society to grow even further.

At the end of the day, this society means a lot to me, and I believe it has so much potential. That is why I am running for President, and I would really appreciate your vote.
