I have been training with the Muay Thai society since September 2024. I have had the opportunity to compete in 2 fights and go to countless training sessions at UCL, where I have seen encouraging changes in my ability, that’s exciting to look back on.
I want to be Vice President because I feel the effort and care that is infused into the club, and the respect I have for this society. I have seen how great an impact the committee members have on the club, creating an environment that fosters motivation and excitement in us to become better and better each week.
I am proud to be a member of this community, and want to very actively help this club, propelling us towards inspiring and motivating so many UCLers.
The passion I have means that I will, without question, give it my all to make this club as awesome as it can be. I want to see it continue to be incredible for all current and future members.
Participating in 2 fights this season has been so much fun, stress testing my actual abilities and habits under pressure, to see where I really need to improve.
One improvement: those wanting to fight could be taken through what a round might look like, with an experienced member targeting our weaknesses with fast, technical, low-power attacks. In my first fight, I forgot what a guard was :).
I’d love to be a part of continuing to elevate our community, being able to lead us further towards greatness, and look forward to the time I will spend in the club, either as Vice President or not.
UCLMT has been a fundamental part of my university experience. I am stepping up for Vice-President because I am deeply passionate about this sport, and I want to provide the same environment that was central to my journey at UCL. While training alongside the club, I have developed a growing sense of community that has helped me become a better person, and I will work hard to maintain this same standard next year. Making sure that training, social and competition events sail smoothly will be my core responsibility, and by having taken an active part in all of these events the past year, I have a clear understanding of how they can be improved. My main goal for next year is to plan more inter-uni training and sparring sessions to give more opportunities for experiencing the power that Muay Thai has to create bonds and lifelong memories.
