Hi! I’m Iman – a pathology nerd at heart and strong believer in ‘sharing is caring’, keen to share my enthusiasm, whether you’re a fellow pathology lover or want to explore!
Pathology is often an overlooked speciality, labelled as lab-intense and socially isolating. But I aim to debunk these myths, showcasing its diversity! As Pathology Chair, my main plans are:
-
Close the knowledge gap
With minimal exposure to pathology in UCLMS, little is known about it as an “umbrella speciality”. Through organising hospital shadowing, research and networking opportunities, I aim to promote and guide you through pathology, getting your questions answered!
-
Strengthen partnerships, allowing us to learn from each other and widen our opportunities. Ideas include:
- Teaching series; MedSoc Education x Pathology
- Conferences; UCL Pathology x MedSoc Pathology
- Fundraising for various charities, e.g. Beacon
- Explore and promote the fun of pathology, through organising various trips, workshops, and a journal club!
-
Continue and grow
MedSoc Pathology has offered wonderful events over the years, such as the “Careers in pathology webinar”. I aim to continue them and ensure they remain long-term, introducing them to the MedSoc Annual Calendar.
Having myriad roles, including RUMS Welfare VP, AcaMedics Co-ordinator, and Y1 academic rep, I am great at collaborating, organising and getting the job done. As Pathology Chair, I will support, listen and advocate for you, standing by my motto “No troll left behind”.
Hi, I'm Rayan!
I am excited to stand for the role of Pathology Chair.
This decision comes from my love for pathology and commitment to improving the subcommittee’s impact next academic year.
Over the past year, I have gained valuable experience in society management as Anatomy Society Treasurer, teaching and leadership as Interim Developmental & Evolutionary Biology Officer, and insight into the subcommittee as Pathology Publicity Officer. Together, these roles have given me a strong foundation in running a committee effectively.
Furthermore, having developed experience and connections through various projects and by working with pathologists from hospitals across the country, I believe I have the knowledge and passion to lead this role effectively. Pathology is a fundamental aspect of our education, and the Medical Society has an important role in supporting learning and engagement in the field. This has been a driving force behind my candidacy, as I feel there is real room to improve for the next academic year.
As Pathology Chair, I would focus on delivering:
- Interactive talks and sessions with pathologists
- High-yield pathology and histology tutorials
- Opportunities to explore the field of pathology
- Exam-focused revision sessions
- Pathology museum visits
- Inter-uni events
I truly believe that we can make pathology exciting, approachable, and relevant for everyone, and I'd be honoured to lead that effort.
Thank you!
Rayan
