Anish Kalyana

A little bit about what I want to achieve:

• Build on what already works - continuing the highly regarded Journal Club and the iBSc Clinical Neurology teaching sessions that have become such a strong part of the society.

• Launch a Neurology Specialty Day – a full day of engaging talks across different subspecialties, with structured networking and CV-building opportunities.

• Strengthen collaborations – continuing joint events with SurgSoc Neurosurgery, while expanding partnerships with Queens Square IoN societies to bring more events to the Institute. This can help students join case discussions and listen in to Gowers Rounds at the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery.

• Create a Neurology Society research eBook – a practical, step-by-step guide on how to get involved in research and academia, including how to publish a high-quality systematic review and meta-analysis as a first author. This is a skill every medical student should know but isn’t taught properly!

• Respond to member requests – introducing new initiatives based directly on what you want to see.

A little bit about me:
I am the current Neurology Society iBSc Clinical Neurology Education Lead having completed the iBSc in Clinical Neurology myself in 2025. Through this, I've built strong links with neurologists across Queen Square (including current iBSc faculty leads), UCLH, the Royal Free, and the Whittington to help bring these plans into reality.

Dhyana Chauhan

I’m Dhyana, a 4th year medical student with a strong academic and clinical interest in neurology. This is demonstrated through completing my iBSc in clinical neurology, leading several Journal Club sessions and contributing to workshops at neurology conferences. I am committed and enthusiastic about building on NeuroSoc’s success and to continue to create engaging opportunities within neurology.

  • Expand teaching opportunities
    • 2nd year - continue with NSB tutorials
    • iBSc specific sessions including research skills and academic writing advice
    • Clinical years - I would introduce OSCE workshops, examination practice and portfolio guidance
  • Continue and improve Journal Club
    • Journal Club has been an exciting new addition to NeuroSoc which I have been involved with
    • I would further establish this as a platform for students to develop and showcase their research, presentation and critical appraisal skills
    • I would also like to expand the club even further, incorporating talks from medical professionals
  • Introduce new events to expand the society’s presence
    • Events include a neurology debate club discussing ethical fields and movie nights including both non- and neurology related films
    • I would like to run fundraising events such as bake sales and quiz nights for charities supporting people with neurological diseases such as the National Brain Appeal, Parkinson’s UK etc.
    • I would build new partnerships with other MedSoc societies and maintains existing ones such as with Surgical Society to plan the INNC
