Khondamir Kadirov

As a Mathematics student with a strong interest in finance and analytical problem-solving, I believe I can bring a structured and transparent approach to managing the society’s finances.

If elected Treasurer, my priority will be to ensure that the society’s funds are managed responsibly and efficiently so that members receive the greatest possible benefit. I aim to maintain clear financial records, ensure transparency in spending, and carefully plan budgets for events throughout the year.

I would also like to work with the committee to expand the range of activities available to members, from academic talks and problem-solving sessions to networking events with professionals in quantitative finance, research, and industry. Proper financial planning can allow us to organise more frequent and higher-quality events while keeping membership accessible.

Additionally, I will actively look for opportunities to secure sponsorships and partnerships with relevant organisations. This would allow the society to increase its resources, subsidise events, and provide more opportunities for students interested in mathematics and its applications.

Ultimately, my goal as Treasurer would be to ensure that the Mathematics Society’s finances are handled with professionalism, transparency, and long-term planning so that the society can continue to grow and provide value to all of its members.

I am an active member of the maths society and would like to contribute to the society.

I am a first year maths BSc student, and I am standing for treasurer because I want to make sure that the ADM society can run as many high-quality events as possible whilst staying financially viable.

My main goal would be to work with the events officer and president to make sure that as many cool events - from career and skill-building ones to socials - can go ahead as possible, and that they are financially feasible to do so. Events like the Qube Quant competition last term, the upcoming hackathon and the variety of guest speakers we have had throughout the year would all be my top priority to make sure we have the financial capability to organise.

I will also work closely with the Student Union to secure more grants for ADM so we run more events as well as improving facilities in the maths common room. I will submit strong applications for these grants and be very transparent with our goals and reasons for receiving them.

I am aware that being a Treasurer for ADM will provide me with valuable experience and learning in financial and budget management, and because of this I will be committed to doing my best as Treasurer and would take the position incredibly seriously if I were to be selected.

Suhan Wasim

Hello there!
My name is Suhan, and I am running to be Treasurer for the ADM society.

Our maths society is famously one of the few societies at UCL that is absolutely free to join. This is a remarkable achievement, and there is no doubt that it was made possible due to the efforts of Daya (the current president) and the amazing ADM team. I want to stand as Treasurer to help maintain this, while still enabling the same or higher quality and quantity of talks, competitions and opportunities we have had so far. This will likely not be an easy feat, and I am fully prepared for the challenge and commitment this rule truly deserves.

But what makes me, a simple first-year, capable of such a vital role?

Before UCL, I was appointed by my Sixth Form as the Head of the House System. My school, like many others, had a decaying reward system, and I helped reinvigorate it using various competitions, awards and workshops. I have worked with tight budgets before, coordinated important events between several departments and handled all the nitty-gritty admin work this role likely requires. I am not picking up this opportunity for my LinkedIn, but rather because I enjoy the activities it entails and am willing to put in the work.

I hope you will vote for me in this election, and I look forward to seeing you next year!

I believe there is no better way to show my love for UCL than by taking an active role in one of its oldest societies. I am therefore standing to be the ADM Mathematics Society Treasurer to ensure its smooth running, especially during UCL’s bicentennial year!

Since joining the committee as General Events Officer in the November by-elections (as the only first-year member!), I have already shown my commitment by spending a considerable amount of time organising and supporting events, such as the chess tournament & the STEM ball, while also establishing connections in the community. This experience has given me a good understanding of how the Society operates.

I enjoy organised and structured work and am ready to take responsibility for overseeing the Society’s budget. Having a strong interest in finance, I guarantee to bring attention to detail and accountability to ensure the budget is managed accurately and that events are well-planned and enriched with the Society’s sponsors’ support.

I have also been one of the only two lead mentors at a charitable summer school for 18 full days, doing administrative work which included writing reports and even discussing the school’s potential budget spending - this goes hand in hand with the expected duties of a Treasurer.

I’d be honoured to keep representing our exemplary society within the Students’ Union but at a higher position now, as someone who’s just as social as academically capable!

Let’s keep ADM a society we can count on!

Good financial management keeps a society running smoothly and lets everything else happen. As Treasurer of the Mathematics Society, I want to make sure that is never the bottleneck.

At my internship at Aditya Birla Group I built automated valuation pipelines processing 10,000+ data points and quantified market risk across 12 regional segments to inform $3 million capital allocation decisions. I am comfortable working with financial data at scale and understand that rigorous process behind numbers matters as much as the numbers themselves.

As Treasurer I would keep finances transparent, well-documented, and allocated in a way that genuinely serves the society's members and activities.

My relevant background:

  • Automated valuation pipeline reducing computation time by 70% at ABG
  • Market risk quantification informing $3M capital allocation decisions
  • First Class performance in Statistical Methods in Economics
  • BSc Economics at UCL with strong quantitative foundations
Gavyn Wong

Hi, I’m Gavyn! I’m running for Treasurer because I want to help our society thrive - not just by keeping the numbers in check, but by making sure every event runs smoothly and gets the funding it deserves.

A major part of this role is securing the funding that drives the society. I’m ready to maintain our strong relationships with partners like Wincent, The Phoenix Partnership, and Jane Street, serving as the link between these firms and our society. I’m comfortable with drafting sponsorship contracts, communicating with recruiters, and making sure we uphold our commitments while getting the best opportunities for our members.

I also bring real experience in financial management. At my previous school, I was responsible for tracking a budget of £1,000, ensuring funds were allocated correctly and every penny was accounted for. I genuinely enjoy working with spreadsheets, managing balances, and planning budgets for events.

My goal is to take care of the logistics so the rest of the committee can focus on making the society more exciting and dynamic every term. If you want a reliable Treasurer who keeps the books balanced and the funding flowing, vote for Gavyn!

Sophia Samad

Hi, my name’s Sophia. I’m running for Treasurer because I’m organised, reliable, and I genuinely want to help the society run smoothly. I’m good at keeping track of details and making sure things are planned properly, especially when it comes to budgets and spending.

I’ve had hands-on experience handling money responsibly through a charity fundraiser for Great Ormond Street Hospital, where I was in charge of the finances. I collected and tracked contributions, kept clear records of payments, and organised everything in a spreadsheet so totals were always up to date and easy to report back.

My agenda for the upcoming year:

• Careful budgeting: Set clear budgets for events and initiatives so we can plan properly and avoid last-minute shortfalls.

• Better events: Spend smarter to raise event quality, including consistent refreshments (yes, free food at events) and smoother reimbursements.

• More funding: After seeing how much Imperial’s maths society brings in, it motivated me to grow our sponsorship income by building stronger sponsor relationships and securing more sponsors through competitions, so we can run more events long-term and keep finances stable.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
