I’m standing for Welfare Officer because I care deeply about making the Legal Tech Society a space that feels supportive as well as ambitious. Having been on the committee as Events Coordinator last year, I’ve seen how much work goes on behind the scenes – and how easy it is, especially in a demanding field like Law, to prioritise productivity over wellbeing.
We all know how intense academic pressure can be, particularly when balancing coursework, applications, and career planning. I want to help create a culture within the society where members feel comfortable voicing concerns, asking for flexibility when needed, and accessing the right support. Welfare isn’t just about signposting services; it’s about fostering an environment where people feel included, heard, and not defined solely by achievement.
As Welfare Officer, I would work closely with the committee to ensure events are accessible, schedules are realistic, and feedback channels are open. I’d also aim to introduce small but meaningful initiatives from check-ins during busy periods to collaborative wellbeing-focused socials, so that members can connect beyond networking.
Having already contributed to the society’s growth, I’m motivated to now represent its members’ wellbeing, ensuring we continue to innovate in legal tech without losing sight of the people behind it.
