Jewish Society: President

Having served as the committee's Treasurer this past year, I decided to run for President because our community at UCL is important to me, and I want to continue contributing to its development. Beyond the outlined responsibilities of the Treasurer role, I spent the year familiarizing myself with how our society functions -- what works well, what barriers we face, and what it means to embolden a society that exists not only to share Jewish culture, but also to champion it and define, for ourselves, what it can be on campus. Really, I would just like to give back, to serve as President for all those interested in Judaism -- whether or not you are Jewish -- and to make our society's offerings as multi-faceted as its members and to build on what I know to be a warm, joyful, and proud Jewish community. 

As JSoc President, I will strengthen and grow the vibrant Jewish community we have built at UCL, organising meaningful events, fighting antisemitism with seriousness and resolve, and centring Jewish joy; and I have the experience, resilience, and drive to do so.

JSoc has been at the heart of my university experience, and I want every Jewish student to feel that sense of belonging. As president, I will expand inter-uni collaborations; organise many social events; host Jewish speakers from diverse backgrounds; create networking, internship, and career opportunity events; and increase volunteering initiatives so our impact extends beyond campus.

This past year I rebuilt the Israel Society from near inactivity into a thriving society. Through consistent programming, collaboration and new initiatives, we created real momentum. I understand what it takes not just to plan events and overcome any hurdles, but to build a community people are proud of. 

During my two years at UCL, I have continuously worked to confront the antisemitism we face, working closely with our antisemitism coordinator, UCL leadership, and external organisations. As president, I will ensure concerns are taken seriously and every student feels supported and heard.

Most importantly, I will centre Jewish pride and ensure JSoc remains a welcoming, open space for everyone.

I am ready to lead with energy, experience, resilience and commitment, and to deliver a year defined by pride, joy and a stronger Jewish community.
