Hi, I'm Luna, a first year PPE student!
I’m currently serving as Sub-Career Officer for Japan Society, and I am running for Career Officer. When I first started exploring careers, I remember how confusing and overwhelming everything felt — which is exactly why I want to make the process clearer, more approachable, and less intimidating for everyone.
As Career Officer officer, I will:
- Organise both virtual and on-campus events to explore diverse career paths and opportunities
- Strengthen Inter-year connections so that members can learn from each other’s experiences and feel supported throughout their journeys
- Host beginner-friendly sessions on how “Shūkatsu” actually works step by step.
- Provide more helpful, up-to-date information, such as clearer guidance on applications and timelines
Why me?
-
Proven leadership experience
I have lead my high school brass band club, served as student president, and helped organise MUN events with over 100 participants ー With strong initiative and management skills, I can successfully implement new ideas.
-
Strong communication & recruiter relationships
As Sub-Career Officer, I have built strong relationships with recruiters and agencies, which I can leverage to bring diverse and meaningful career opportunities to our members.
For any questions, please feel free to contact me on instagram @luna.20191203
I would be truly grateful for your support, and I'm excited about the opportunity to continue strengthening our community together.
Hi everyone I'm Sean, a second year Maths student - and I’m standing for Japan Society Careers Officer.
I’ve explored different career paths through insight programmes in consulting and finance. Through these experiences, I’ve seen how valuable having Japanese language skills and cultural understanding can be — especially as Japan becomes more globally connected.
Having grown up with English and Japanese my whole life, I feel confident navigating both cultures. I understand how different communication styles, expectations, and networking can be, and I’d love to share that insight with other members who are curious about working, studying, or living in Japan in the future.
If elected, I’d focus on making careers support feel friendly and accessible to Japanese and non-Japanese members— whether that’s casual alumni chats, sharing Japan-related opportunities, or sessions on how to approach applications in Japan.
I want Japan Society to be a space where people can explore what Japan means for their future, not just academically or culturally, but personally and professionally too.
Hi, I'm Youngmin, a first-year from the tropical island of Okinawa studying Politics and International Relations! I understand how much of a hassle job-hunting can be -- but fear not! I'm the current Sub-Career Officer for Japan Society, and as Career Officer, I will fully leverage my experiences of working directly with not only my career officer senpais but also recruiters from some of the largest firms in Japan to enhance the 就活 (job-hunting) experience for all!
- Agenda
- Enlarging the scope of networking opportunities on home grounds, here at UCL
- Fostering collaboration across London unis to host more extensive events
- Diversifying career options for students of various interests and non-Japanese backgrounds

- Fully employing digital media to deliver the latest career information
2. Why I'm your guy
I've got...
- Strong connections with current career officers and recruiters from the biggest Japanese and multinational companies
- Countless experiences in organisational roles, from founding successful clubs back in high school to assisting with career events as sub-career officer
