Niral Prajapati

I am applying for the Welfare Officer role because I want to take a more active and meaningful role within Jain Soc and help strengthen the impact of our seva initiatives. This position represents an opportunity to contribute beyond attendance — by shaping, organising and expanding the society’s outreach in a way that reflects our core values of compassion and service.

Through coordinating large-scale events such as proms and disco dandiyas, I have developed strong organisational and logistical skills. These events required detailed planning, budgeting, promotion, and collaboration to ensure everything ran smoothly. I am confident in managing responsibilities, communicating effectively, and staying composed under pressure — all essential for supporting the President and planning successful events throughout the year.

As the founder and president of my sixth form gym society, I built a community from the ground up. I recruited members, organised sessions, and created an inclusive environment where everyone felt welcome regardless of experience. This role strengthened my leadership, initiative, and long-term commitment to building sustainable and engaging communities.

As Welfare Officer, I would bring structure, enthusiasm and reliability to Seva Month and to developing relationships with charities. I am also excited to collaborate closely with Hindu Soc to deliver impactful joint seva initiatives that are well-organised, inclusive and meaningful for our members.

Running for Welfare Officer comes from one aim. Make Jain Soc feel safe, welcoming, and like a real UCL family. Having experienced being introverted, unsure, and rejected, it is easier for me to relate to members who may feel the same. This is why I believe I can be a strong link between members and committee.

I personally value events where people can just relax and form real connections. UCL Jain Society has my heart and I have a strong passion to help this community.

I am a very reachable person, whether it be online or in person. I am disciplined and reliable with my deadlines and follow throughs. I have experience hosting cultural charity events and supporting concerns with care and confidentiality.

If elected I will.
• Build a simple path so members know who to contact and what happens next.
• Make inclusion practical by welcoming newcomers actively and checking in after events.
• Offer calm one to one support and signpost to UCL services when needed.

I am standing because I have really enjoyed being part of the UCL Jain Society as a member this year, and I'd like to contribute more actively to its growth. Over this academic year, it has been immensely rewarding to see the organisation's reach and stature grow firsthand through events like the British Museum Diwali visit and various social events with notable alumni, and I aspire to push the society's reach even further as a prospective Welfare Officer of the UCL Jain Society. Through helping out and organising certain tasks at these events, as well as through my coursework and involvement in other societies, I have developed strong organisational and collaborative skills. If elected, the core message I would like to convey as Welfare Officer is a structured, collaborative outlook on wellbeing, while making well-timed initiatives to accelerate the society's sense of belonging.
