I would like to become the Sponsorship Officer for the Indian Society because I enjoy building connections and creating opportunities that help events grow. I am motivated to reach out to brands and organisations that align with our society’s values and can support our cultural, social, and professional activities. By securing sponsorships, I hope to help the society host larger, more engaging events while also building strong relationships with businesses in the community. I am organised, proactive, and confident in communication, and I believe these skills will allow me to effectively represent the society and contribute to its continued success. I’d also love to be part of a society like Indian society for the exciting and welcoming energy I’ve felt at different social events.
UCL Indian Society is more than just a series of events; it is a community that brings together culture, identity, and ambition. As Sponsorship Officer, my aim is to secure meaningful and sustainable partnerships that elevate the scale and quality of our events while creating long-term value for members. Rather than approaching companies last-minute, I will implement a structured sponsorship strategy from the start of the year, developing clear tiered packages that offer measurable value and professional engagement. I plan to target consulting, finance, tech firms and culturally aligned brands that see genuine value in connecting with high-achieving South Asian students, while also strengthening ties with Indian alumni and founders in London to build long-term relationships beyond a single event cycle. Professionalism will be central to my approach through polished sponsorship decks, organised outreach tracking, and transparent follow-up reporting to ensure sponsors feel valued and return year after year. Strong sponsorship directly translates into higher production quality for flagship events, more accessible ticket pricing, and greater collaboration opportunities across UCL. I bring a proactive, organised mindset and strong communication skills, and I am committed to building a sponsorship framework that is ambitious, strategic, and sustainable for the society’s future.
I’m interested in the Sponsorship Officer role because I’d love to play a part in strengthening the society behind the scenes and helping it grow sustainably. Hosting Culture Day at my school required coordination, communication and outreach, and I really enjoyed that organisational aspect. India Soc already runs such high-quality events, and I’d love to help secure partnerships that allow us to expand even further, whether that’s bigger events, better production, or more opportunities for members. More than anything, I want to contribute to a society I genuinely enjoy being part of and help ensure it continues to thrive and deliver memorable experiences for everyone.
I have really enjoyed attending Indian Soc’s events so far, and I would love the opportunity to help make them even bigger and better. I am excited to work closely with the Sponsorship Officer and external businesses to raise funds that we can invest into exciting and high quality events for our members. Through running a Young Enterprise business and securing sponsorship, I learnt how to approach companies confidently and communicate value clearly. As sponsorship officer, I will focus on building meaningful partnerships that align with our values and benefit our members.
I believe I would be a good fit for Sponsorship Officer as I am interested in helping the society expand its partnerships and secure the funding needed to support bigger events. Indian Society plays a key role in building a cultural community at UCL, and I would like to contribute by improving relationships with businesses and discerning new sponsorship opportunities that benefit the society. Through co-founding start-ups, I have developed experience in outreach, negotiation, and pitching ideas to external partners. As CFO of a start-up, I made financial projections and presented our plans to investors, which helped secure £1.5k in funding. I also worked directly with customers at trade fairs, developing the confidence and communication skills needed to represent an organisation expertly. These experiences have prepared me well for talking to companies, fostering partnerships, and securing sponsorship deals. As President of my school’s Economics Society, I worked with a committee to organise activities and secure funding, helping increase attendance by 300% and making us the most funded society in the school. This experience taught me the importance of organisation and teamwork when managing projects. As Sponsorship Officer, I would aim to build relationships with businesses and help develop professional sponsorship packages in collaboration with the marketing team and focus on finding sponsors that ensure the society has the resources to continue running successful events.
Hi! My name is Shreeya and I am studying Chemistry with maths! I believe that I am a suitable candidate for this role, as I have professional communication skills and organisational skills. I have had experience with working and liaising with businesses. As, as a previous head girl, I played a huge role in organising a successful Sixth Form prom. In that role, I had to negotiate with businesses, DJ’s, photographers and venues, to get the best price and best packages for the year group. Through this role as head girl, I have enhanced my leadership skills and teamwork skills, as well as furthering my negotiation skills. Throughout my life, I have worked for charities, such as St Lukes Hospice, which has allowed me to see how they work. Being a part of drama productions and concerts, I have been able to see how they work behind the scenes. Through this role, I will ensure that the UCL Indian Society gets the best sponsorships and deals, such as DJ’s for major events or businesses for student discounts, so that we can minimise cost and so we are able to plan many more amazing events. I will ensure that plans are made effectively before dealing with businesses. In this role, I would hope to liaise with many more businesses and charities. For example local temples, to partner with for the food sevas, and other food businesses like Sakonis for our events. In conclusion, through this role I aim to find more ways to support UCL Indian Society to celebrate our religion and culture.
